The Christmas Season is not over until this coming Sunday is passed.
The lights should stay up until Monday, January 12th, 2026.
Let's keep them up until their time has passed. They are fun, they are pretty and they lift our hearts and spirits.
Hooray for the TD Christmas Lights!

It’s not just Shreveport, there is a house on Moss Street in New Orleans decked out for Carnival all ready.
And yes people will say this is much ado about nothing, but culturally we have forgotten Advent as the lead of to the 12 days of the Christmas season that ends on the epiphany when the Magi showed up (Jan 6th). The Baptism is celebrated I believe the day after.

at the end of the day it's the same as non-christians exchanging christmas gifts...do you enjoy it whatever...but we keep the correct timeline...one of those things that just stays important to me

Well said, we have a number of Jewish friends and as an example we respect the confines of the 8 nights of Hanukkah.

Sorry bro. Eating King Cake before 1/6 is bad luck. Don’t do it.

King Cake season is short this year with Mardi Gras falling in Mid-February on my birthday. Thank you for holding a parade on my birthday. In 2015 when February 17 fell on Mardi Gras day, the wise people of Terrebonne parish decided to ride all the parades on the Sunday prior due to expected cold and rainy conditions. It turned out to be a nice day except it was cold.
Also, it sucks that Twelfth Night falls on a work day. The krewes probably didn’t want to hold a big event on a week day.

Francis was a heretic, so there’s that.
