Missing out on normal social situations makes a lot of homeschool kids weird.
That’s far from the case today, the kids have clubs, play sports, have group classes, field trips, they don’t spend every day locked in the house with mom and dad.

I agree - but it’s been far from the case for a long time. I was homeschooled for a while a long time ago - but I still had dance class, music lessons, playground sports, and churchy stuff with other kids. And that was just a little bit of my socialization.
The anti social weirdoes are the parents’ fault. And there are plenty of those in the ‘traditional’ schools as well.

Yeah, going to school with social dysfunctionals is so much better! Not to mention the sanctioned group think.

We do virtual learning, and it is hard.

You people are hopeless. You just don’t understand the world. You’ve become the old stay off my lawn people.

I send my son to an all boys Catholic school run by “brothers”. No telling what kind of therapy he’ll need after 6 years (7-12th) of this.

sheltering them from dysfunctional people isn't all that great either

most people homeschool their kids because they are afraid of them hearing any opposing views from their own
not all public schools are "liberal indoctrination" centers
not all homeschooled kids are weird
it all just depends on the family and the structure of that family
where they go to school is mostly irrelevant in the end

Probably none.
Are his teachers mostly ‘brothers’? Even if they are - it’s usually the women you have to worry about in that situation.
My brother also went to an all boys school from 7-12 grade - and he’s just fine.

So much ignorance about home schooling these days. You can have as much socialization as you could ever want for your children. There are many options including religious or secular. I preferred that my kids not be socialized by kids that don’t even know what gender or pronoun they are. Your situation is totally doable. The “teacher” won’t spend valuable class time dumbing down material for slow kids or trying to discipline the unruly. With a plan and focus, 2-4 hours a day (as you define it) is plenty. My wife runs a HS resource/field trip group with participation from the entire South. This is not the homeschool you remember from when we were kids. Times have changed.

Why homeschool? Is this racism or trumpism?
It’s wanting your children to be competitive on a global scale. If that strikes you as political, gfy

Yeah ok. You have zero clue about the real world. Stay here in your world of hate and Trump and let the world and history pass you by. History will judge you.

Because teaching pastor Tom’s word and Moma teaching advanced math is really going to help them compete in the global world. You people are insane

This is an unfounded stereotype. Nobody said anything about Pastor Tom (who may be quite well-educated), or Moma. By the way, Moma is a nurse, so probably has a decent grip on STEM. Public school shill is obvious. Don’t worry, you can still get your pension and 3 months vacation indoctrinating dullards.

Don't listen to the folks saying your kids will be weird. There are a hell of a lot of weird public school kids. If you and your wife are normal and you make effort in getting your kids out in public fairly often they will likely be more socially able than most. I would say it would be pretty hard for your wife to homeschool and work unless she could work weekends or something like that. But homeschooling is hard and she will need rest. I wouldn't ask my wife to do that. The better option would be to try to cut your expenses.

Be honest. What administrative position in the public school system do you hold?

Up until recently my wife (no pics) and I had the opinion that, “We went to public school and turned out just fine.” Now I am ready to homeschool my kids (3 boys). I work 24hrs on/48 hrs off(firefighter) and wife works 4–10 hr days(nurse). Is this doable and if so how? Wife thinks it can’t be done.
You're the first FF I've ever heard of that did have three or four jobs in addition to puttin' out fires.
