Downtown, catch the Metro Rail to the Rodeo. Downtown is close to Eado and Midtown Bars.

Hilton of America's used to have hookers at the lobby bar on the regular.
NAPE starts in about 10 days down there.

I was looking at this place already. Is that area walkable?
If you are gay the Museum District is ideal.

Rip Astro Inn
Legend is that there's been some bass caught out of the bayou directly behind that place.

I'm always very confused when I pass the hotel and / or experience that replaced the Astro Inn.

I live in downtown Houston. Downtown at ALoft or one of the others near Main Street.
They plenty of bars and restaurants downtown that are walking distance.
The biggest perk is that you can take the light rail all the way to and from to the rodeo/NRG. Saves you a lot of money on Uber.

Hotel Zaza in museum district.
This would make it easy to hop on the train to the rodeo at NRG and put you about a mile from the bars and restaurants in Rice Village
I also believe the Zaza has complementary shuttles within 2 miles
