My friend that had been at the company for 3-4 years suggested I applied. So I did, interviewed, and got the job. It’s been a good experience builder, but it’s out of state and I’m kind of ready to move back home.

Don't let life happen to you. Find a job you want and pay the price.

I identify as a black, Hispanic, gay woman and I am now on about 6 boards of directors of California corporations. Not even sure what their products or services are.

I’ll do my best to be brief while summing up a 6 year struggle.
It took years, literally 6, for me to find my current job. I was trying to break into an industry where knowing the right people is a very large part of it, and I had just moved to a city where I knew no one.
Sent out probably hundreds of resumes, never really heard back. About 4 years ago I interviewed for a position, made it to the final 2, and wasn’t selected. But the executive director liked me, and agreed to be a resource to me. We would grab lunch every few months. About 2 years later, I saw a posting for a role, and asked this guy if he knew the firm. He did, offered to reach out to them and recommend me, and I got an interview. Once again, I get to the final 2, don’t get the job, but the interviewer liked me and also agreed to be a resource.
A few weeks later, he invites me to a fundraiser another firm is hosting, about an hour before. I’m at Target at the time, but I sprint home, throw on a suit, and rush over.
The firm wasn’t hiring, but I hit it off with them, and they brought me in to see how they can help me find work in the industry elsewhere. It took a few months, but they end up making me an offer, and I’ve been there a little over a year now.

I have literally never gone through proper channels. My last boss was my next door neighbor when I was growing up. My current job is our family company.

I recently got laid off and spent the last three weeks searching the r8ght job. I never left the house except for the actual interview. I used several web based job search sites and had several interviews until I accepted the job that was right for me.
Indeed was a good site and I also used the Alabama.gov site that helps folks on unemployment find work. There are a lot of services I didn't care for. I would see the job posting and skip the service and go straight to the company's website to apply. I finally found one that met my salary needs last week. The internet has made job searches easy and without going in person to all of those places like I did fresh out of school.

A former coworker recommended me because he knew that I was looking to leave my previous job.

The hiring manager saw my videos on Pornhub & subscribed to my OnlyFans.

Luck and persistence. I must have applied to 200-250 positions when I started to feel unhappy with my previous job. About 5 percent of that 200 resulted in interviews and finally I was hired at my current job. (Ended up with 2 offers)
I have the degree and experience, but I’d imagine it would have been easier if I had “networked”. Took about a year and a half total. Monetary compensation came out to 96-104k depending on performance and additional stock options worth about 11k per year. I basically doubled my compensation after putting in “my time” to get experience.

My current job just feel into my lap out of the clear blue sky. A former employer recommended me as a superintended to a general contractor to run a project near Atlanta. The GC is out of California.
A brief telephone interview and review of my resume landed me the job with no face-to-face meeting, and the pay is more than I have ever made in my life to this point.
Sometimes, God looks after idiots like me and gives us a chance to prove ourselves. I promise ya, I'm gonna make the most of this one! I have never been happier regarding employment.

Current job? Got press-ganged from my old division to my current one because they needed bodies with my qualifications.
That previous job? I took it because it was the only opening I could get and they didn’t have many applicants because the titular boss was a fricking retard while the actual boss wasn’t much better.
The current job had tried to hire me about a month before that but weren’t allowed to fill that position for bureaucratic reasons. They were disappointed because I had the right mix of qualifications for what they were trying to do and then one of the three interviewers who had met with me was shocked when she came down to the other division about two months later for lunch and saw me there.

I spent 4 or so years doing everything in my power to get the training and experience to get hired on at a good company. I applied at an "open call" and was one of the few people hired.
I've been there 23 years and worked my way up from there.
Best story is from my wife's friend. She was an industrious manager at a restaurant near a hotel. High school diploma level education.
The same old guy came in every night for 5 days. On the 5th day he said "I've been watching you work for 5 days and want you to come work for me". He was starting a division at a major company and chose her to help him get it going. He said he spotted her work ethic and needed people like her.
They started the division. He paid for her to get an education and she is a VP at the same company.
Right place, right time.

Applied online.
Interviewed. Didn’t get it. Kept me in the Database and the next time an opening came up they offered me a position
