describes my first marriage. I’m not nearly as idealistic anymore. It takes more than love to make a marriage successful.

The day before my wife graduated from LSU (a year after me) I took her around campus for one last look. When we got to the Bell tower I had her close her eyes. Her friends and family came out onto the steps and which she opened her eyes I proposed.

Surprised her inside the great pyramid of Egypt. Freaked her out. She didn’t believe me. Took two more days on a Nile cruise before she believed me.

Had the ring for a few days planning on something cool but ended up wanting to give her the ring and did it on the back porch where we hang out in the evenings. She was still surprised and both loved the moment.
