You’re a fibro expert now?
Yes

My reading of the research is that fibromyalgia is probably real, but most people with the diagnosis probably don’t actually have it.
I only know two individuals who have been clinically diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Both are female and both have also been diagnosed with depression. I don't claim to be an expert on the subject, but don't many members of the medical community believe that the disease is merely a side effect of depression that's brought on by a chemical imbalance in the brain? Studies have proven that these imbalances can cause actual physical pain, which is why antidepressants are widely prescribed to individuals who have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

Well....maybe get rid of the boat. If you can't sit in an office and work, seems to me you'd have a hard time launching a boat and fishing. $3k/month after you've already mostly paid for your house and car, isn't chump change.
The only work he can really do now is be a charter captain because it pays cash and the disability investigators can’t follow him offshore

Those are the same symptoms as the flu. Imagine having a disease where you basically got the flu if you didn’t take fibromyalgia medicine. Do you believe it’s a bad disease now?

I was diagnosed with it and suddenly after ending a terrible relationship it is magically gone.
That being said, I started eating really clean, working out 5-6 times a week and the pain and fatigue went away.
I'm now wondering if I even had it or if it was just related to stress in my life.

Sit up here, push up there, 3-4 jumping jacks... WheW, day is GONE!

It can be a combination of Lyme, Babesia, and other tick born diseases. Antibody tests are unreliable. I would ask for a blood smear and have them look at it under a microscope.

I had that after I took percocett and morphine for 4 months prior to surgery. When I quit taking them I got the flu really bad. There should be some research into this. I felt like shite for a month.

Hate to break it to you but your cousin is hooked on whatever the doctor is giving him and those are withdrawal symptoms. You don't run out of medicine that you need that badly unless you are taking more than prescribed or just not picking up your refills. If missing a dose made you that sick you certainly wouldn't miss picking up your refill.

You do if you're forced to sell your drugs to fuel your boat.

The disease is poorly understood and most doctors don’t know that as the disease progresses it takes more and more medicine to treat
Posted on 3/25/19 at 4:19 pm to Tiger Ryno
THE only test for FM is a negative results for all other ailments that could cause whole body pain. It’s a diagnosis with no known test, hence why the main drug used in treating is also an antidepressant.

Neurologists don't treat fibro, that's rheumatologists.
Which is odd, considering it's likely a psychosomatic illness that is treated initially with exercise.
If that doesn't work (because how many Americans in that demographic exercise, it's treated with anti-depressants.

My wife’s sister has taken all kinds of scripts for her “fibromyalgia.” Nothing ever helped. What she actually had was parathyroid disease. She had surgery last week, and already feels better than she has in years. Her Endocrinologist told her many people are told they have fibromyalgia and are given pain meds when they actually should be tested for parathyroid. It’s a simple blood test.

I'm not sure if fibro is real but I'll never pretend I know its not. I once laughed at addiction. For many years I thought my dad was lazy when he said his back hurt.
Now, at 36 with 12 years sober and 4 herniated discs, I learned I was wrong.
