Both parents working and more than 50% of one check going to childcare.
Its a plague

$400 a week in the Atlanta suburbs too. It’s hurts.

I’ll say the obvious part out loud. Women should stay home and raise children.
Feminism screwed our country up so bad. Women belong in the household caring for the kids. Full stop!
Fight me!

But how will you afford the AT4 she so desperately needs? Men try to outrun what women spend, and in many cases, enable it. Doesn't matter if she's at home or not, a Ford Escape for your two kids simply won't do.

I'm paying $1800 a month for one.

Said differently: Leave your $250k/yr job and move somewhere that you can make $80k just so you can pay $100/week for daycare.
If he was making that much he wouldn’t be worried about the cost especially if his wife also works

That's not the OT. Driving back from chemical plants in Geismar and seeing Z71s, Jetskis, and 4 wheelers worth more than the doublewide the owners lived in was instructive.

We were lucky enough that all three of our kids are spread out enough we never had more than one in daycare, one in pre-k, and one in elementary school.
I think it was in the ball park of $1000 a month.

$1400-1800 per kid per month is standard here.

Outsourcing daytime parenting is expensive.
The stuff bought with money earned while kid(s) are in daycare will be forgotten and eventually sold in garage sales, yet missing things like their first steps…will never be remembered - far worse.
Just entered retirement. Value of time, especially with the ones you love, are so vividly vivid now. Just sharing honestly.
