Don’t kid yourself.
Every country is just 3 meals from looting and revolution.

Are there any graphics not zoomed out so far that Canada is included? To understand how far / close it will be off the coast

Dorian could have easily gone over West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale and hovered like it did. I bet everyone that lives there lost about 10 years off their life from anxiety. That’s like watching an 18-wheeler coming right at you and then turn at the last second.

Spoke to a friend last night who lives on the coast near Halifax. Says they chuckle at US weather reports saying a storm will be "moving out to sea" post-US when the extended path shows it going right over his house.

Hurricane Florence. The Carolinas felt like they had a lifetime to prepare for that one.

For me I was still living in Asheville NC when Frances came and it dropped 24 inches of rain causing major flooding and then right behind it(9 days) came Ivan which it crazy track that caused it to lay havoc causing over 400 landslides in the mountains including a neighborhood washed into the river.

So the entire island will essentially have to be razed and rebuilt.
What type of" looting" are we talking about?
Someone taking some canned goods from a destroyed grocery?

Is that covered by flood, homeowners, or should I have gotten the earthquake insurance rider.

Sounds like gangs heading to nicer and more intact houses stealing contents and forcing out the residents (if they were still there).

Now granted, twitter/FB can certainly exaggerate things. But the posts are out there. The blame seems to be on Haitian illegals. I’ve been to enough islands to know that the locals/natives do hate them.

Where are they going to take their looted items? Food I somewhat understand, but larger items?

Saw this posted on the abaco Facebook page:

“This not a good situation

Update: Confirmed from the coast guard that some of the mob has shot at a USCG helicopers this afternoon.

I’m asking a huge favor, and a huge financial cost to whoever can help with this situation and I’m calling on my helicopter community.

There are mobs of people assaulting people who do have homes left and are kicking them out of their homes. Looting and becoming violent. There are many who have lost their lives in this storm and many have life threatening emergencies who need to get air lifted out.

The coast guard can’t help everyone and are currently over whelmed by requests. If you have a helicopter that you feel can make a flight to abaco and then to Nassau without a fuel stop then please reach out to me on here and I can help give coordinates and some direction.

Message via satellite phone is that many have broken legs, backs and other injuries and when asked if any loss of the life their response was “too many to count”

We have complete anarchy, looting and no food or water. I fear that more will lose their life if we don’t act quickly.”

Awful. I don't think the fact his wife drowned had really hit him yet when he was doing that interview.

How far out do the hurricane hunters fly to do recon?

I.e. how close due the hurricanes have to be before they go out.

He is still in survival mode. When he gets a chance to sit back for a few minutes, it is going to hit him hard.

That was my first thought, too. He likely was in shock. He clearly was not yet fully aware of what happened.

Yeah it’s not like the Pawn shops are open

I had to laugh a little yesterday when someone posted that they hoped there would be no looting and that Americans could learn a lot from those people
