I want to go with you, if possible. I'm in West Monroe but can take the rest of the week off and meet you in either LC or Lafayette or where ever. PLEASE EMAIL ME AT SUPADAVE3@GMAIL.COM if I can help. Seriously, I"ll pack a bag and leave immediately.

Anyone know if kingwood is under a mandatory evac?
Someone mentioned it in the other thread and the link in the op of this thread hasn't updated since yesterday.
There are people going around telling people the dam broke and there is a mandatory evacuation but that is false. I have a friend I went to high school with who was out there rescuing people in a boat and ran into these people and they called them on it and they high tailed off.
I have no idea what their motive could be other than to get people to leave so they can loot.

AMITE---Due to changes in the forecast track of the remnants of Hurricane Harvey, the Tangipahoa Parish School System will cancel classes on Wednesday, Aug. 30.
Tangipahoa Parish School Superintendent Mark Kolwe said all 12-month employees and custodians should report to their work sites, weather permitting. Anyone who cannot safely travel to work should contact their immediate supervisor as soon as possible.
“The safety of our students, faculty, and staff remains our top priority,” Kolwe said, adding that the district will continue to monitor the weather and offer updates via local media, the school system website, and the TPSS Facebook page as information becomes available.

Any mention of the "Cajun Army" or similar groups heading West to help with gutting houses? Thinking about heading that way early Saturday morning if the roads are clear, would like to link up with a group if possible.

Looking for a driving route for early tomorrow AM from the to Lafayette from Oak Forest area. North of 610 loop near Ella and 43rd street.
I-10 is obviously out.
Thanks people!

How far east of downtown is 10 out?

Looks like it's out until Beaumont. I think my pal could take 90 to Beaumont and get onto I10 around there.
ETA: This is based on Google Maps road closures.

I'm looking to get from Lake Charles to IAH tomorrow. Anyone know if I can take 90 the whole way?

My parents and nephews had to be rescued by boat. Water began coming into the house about 4 this morning. By the time they got picked up around 9 they had a foot in the house. I can not explain how crazy it is. They built the house up a good 3-4 feet in total. My stepmom said the water in the yard was chest deep. They will probably end up with 3-4 feet in the house, which would be 7 feet or more of water from ground level. I feel helpless not being able to do anything but until the water recedes and they can get to the house, I am stuck here in Baton Rouge.

Reed Timmer's Twitter right now is mostly retweets from people desperately trying to get rescued in Port Arthur. Man, makes me sick to my stomach to see some of these.

Man that is crazy. Glad they are ok and are safe.
I wonder if that flooding was due to the reservoirs being opened because the rain totals yesterday were rather small compared to the other 2-3 days.

90 appears to be open all the way in LC4. Might want to try drivetexas.org as well as they update the road closures every few minutes. Not sure how Google maps does.

If anyone is interested, just spoke with United and they said IAH will be open for hub-to-hub service tomorrow around lunchtime and regular flights will commence Friday at 2pm.
