Yes it does look pretty bad according to those images, but hopefully its just off colored high water that will retreat soon.

North Port, Florida checking in.

No flooding, pine needles all over the place, just a few small trees down, lost a few shingles, and we already have power back.

Also, a tip to those that own boats, have them on a trailer and are worried about where to store them when a bad storm is headed your way; If you're not in a flood zone, find a loading dock and put it there. I had loose water bottles and a styrofoam coffee cup inside the boat. Not a single one of them flew out.

Hamilton Mill/Chateau Élan area here. Wind has noticeably picked up the last couple of hours. Power has flickered a few times, but hasn't gone completely out yet.

After Gustav, they keep evacuees out of Jefferson Parish for 3 days. Unless, of course, you knew a cop or had a political crony. Never mind that several hundred thousand residents never left, so it wasn't like the place was a ghost town.

i was fortunate enough to be "connected" (thru a politician's relative) so i got a pass to get in on wednesday after the storm. i agree with the sentiment of the keys residents...let them in so they can tend to their loved ones and property. if you dont let them in, they wont leave next time, and thats a fact

Doesn't look good thats for sure.

I zoomed in as far as I could and it looks like it is covered in sand, but I'm no expert.

I'm just coming here to vent and didn't want to start a thread on it. I was expecting a package that shipped Thursday from Orlando. No updates on the tracking except "in transit" and USPS is useless as usual. Maybe my package will come in tomorrow and this post is unnecessary. I have a gut feeling that I'll never see it.

I hope all of our FL people are safe! I haven't been able to keep up with the storm like the last one.

And if the roads are copletely washed away into the ocean, amd power lines are sitting live in water, you still just let them back so as to not lose their confidence next time?

Those poeple (and Ive been there sitting waiting to get over a bridge to my house) need some perspective.

A girl I know in Snell Isle was fine and didn't get water - just some landscaping lost (I think I remember you posted your location and It was close) she said they don't have power right now though.
Stopped in Tampa to help some friends but sounds like my apartment is good to go

You poor thing.

At least you can count on your boyfriend giving you his package later.

Obviously you should call 911 or some other emergency service to let them know of your dire circumstances.

The police aren't going to be able to help him, he needs to contact the FBI for something of this magnitude.

Maybe the cajun navy. Are they through in Texas? If not, this is certainly more important, is it not?

Still no posts from her on fb. But someone did comment that they last heard from her around 1 am and she was ok then. Other friends posting they have tried calling her but it goes straight to voicemail. So sounds like no cell service.
