Like someone said above, it's expensive around here. That's what would take some getting used to; it's not a cheap area to live compared to Louisiana. But with every day that passes I think to myself it might be worth it...
I like the mountains and the seasons but I don't know if I'd be willing to pay the premium for that area. There are other parts of the country with the same or similar features with a more reasonable COL.

Yeah, Colorado is God's country. I have wanted to move out there for quite a while, but family keeps me here. Still might though.

i really don't get these threads. is it the fist time you've left the state or something?

Grass isn’t always greener. While that area is beautiful lot more is at play than esthetics. Quality of life via income, cost of living, taxes, and consumable products should heavily impact any decision to move out of state. Not to mention cost of housing. With the current political situation and economic blow back from COVID why would anyone want to live in or around a major city.
I live in Fort Lauderdale and my cost of living has increased 35%. It’s dumb as frick. It’s a beautiful area and I have access to world class fishing or beach with a snap of my fingers, but the ppl here are stiff arse Yankees or hail from a Caribbean or South American country who view life and approach trivial social situations with extreme prejudice. It’s almost like everyone is pissed to be here. Got to say, I have slayed some crazy tail since I’ve been here but that’s pretty much the single social high point outside of professional accomplishments. Friendships have been single serving, food is blah, and no one gives two shits about sports. It’s like living in a expensive arse reality TV show.

Ok. The post i responded to you said “go to New Orleans.” Obviously there are other places with little to no restrictions.

Yeah, there are no ideal places, only preferable places with tradeoffs. But quality of life is extremely important. I'm still trying to get the rest of my family out.
Most nice places are expensive. Prohibitively so.

Once you go to Colorado, you’ll never want to be in Louisiana ever again.

So blacks tend to be more obese, but Louisianans do too.
Go to Walmart and you’d know this

It’s a sign when you visit any other place and think “I want to move here”.
No shite. I have been to many parts of this country on my motorcycles over the years and just about every place I've spent time in, I think I'd not mind living there.
But, then again, I almost always head to more rural areas with wilderness, mountains, great streams for kayaking, fishing, etc. and just blow through the more urban areas on my way to them. I actually spent most of my time on state highways and avoid the interstate so I can see more of small town U.S.A. on my trips.

If I didn't have family and a career in SELA, I'd pack up and move somewhere like this without a second thought.
So many people are stuck in LA with this, myself included. I want out but I also want my child(ren) to grow up with grandparents, and I'd have to change my expectations on lifestyle to move to a city I would love, like Denver.

Covid restrictions are as popular here as Mardi Gras at this point.

Got back from 5 days in Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park last night.
Coming back to the noisy, big city is rough.
The west is amazingly beautiful and all the people we met along the way were very friendly and welcoming.
Southern Utah is beautiful baws.

While I agree on Louisiana being awful, I don't agree with Denver/Boulder being the best out there.
My wife and I packed our shite in 2020 and moved to Jefferson County Colorado, and realized that it's a great place to visit, not so great place to live.
The people and the community are both awful there.
There are plenty of places in between the two that are great.

Of course not. It's mostly thinking out loud via this board. No different than any of the other threads that are repeated I guess. It's Monday morning, let me vent baw

I've been trying to convince the wife to move to Colorado Springs for a couple of years now. Finally got the go-ahead once kids are out of school to make transition easier. Target is Summer of next year. Hopefully it pans out. Quality of life and recreational opportunities, especially outdoors, seems so much better in CO.
