We have put a lot of stuff in orbit over the past half century to claim this with any amount of confidence

Even the recent ufo stuff is unexplainable government technology.

This is why Trump wants multiple Golden Domes and something we are working right now. It will take a little while though to get them built and operational

Pretty amazing we ain't all dead already....hard to imagine without some sort of technology to prevent it that there isn't an all out exchange at some point....

the Cold War was great for us in the sense of technological development, strategy, and preparedness, it was revealed after the collapse of the Soviet Union that we had given them way too much credit for their development and preparedness, I hope this is still the case

This was true in 1965.

We didn’t tell the dumb people.

Looks like word finally got to one.

There is no defense against the multiple stage rockets

Mid-stage they're moving at 15k mph, I assume the MIRVs are moving somewhat slower than that.

OP must not have grown up in the 80s. Jane's Defence Report was required reading for this elementary school kid back then. Every year, looking at what the Soviets pointed at us,

Yeah Baw…they’ve only had the capability of nuclear annihilation for DECADES now. I heard Bubble wrap would cushion the blow though….

There’s a submarine in the Pacific Ocean whose task is to shoot down an ICBM from Russia. It’s position it’s never known and it’s constantly moving.

The US Navy and Air Force can definitely shoot them out of the sky...

There is no demonstrated, confirmed defense against an ICBM. What systems that are deployed have a horrendous hit rate.

There may be some experimental systems that show promise, but nothing fielded, yet.

You swallowed the entire propaganda book. They absolutely can shoot down ICBMs. The problem is that ANY missile defense network can be overwhelmed just by saturation. Knowing we can, and will, do the same is what keeps them from pulling the trigger.

a friend of mine in the Navy has been involved with some pretty cool SDI type of stuff over the last few years, that any of it has made it into the media indicates. it's either pretty advanced/successful or maybe intentional?

Response decisions must be made within 6 minutes launch detection. Amazing that we put this decision in the hands of geriatrics.
