I haven’t gone after the guy because I don’t have accurate information and because I don’t trust the sources. The “scapegoat” is as much a possibility as the “coward” . Or both . I’ve been to this rodeo before.

also, a point in direct contrast to this line of thinking is how the police forced arrived and moved to engage inside the school.
They didn't seem as "confused" as the sheriffs dept.

absolutely not

He. Never. Moved. The whole time the guy was killing kids. If he thought the shots were coming from outside..go find them. He failed. He. Never. Moved. Look, I get it, he was scared and didnt want to die, I get it, but his job was to protect those kids.....He damn well failed.

an officer just doesn't let an active shooter go to another property and continue killing

I think this man is being crucified by the modern social media mob.
If he did what Coral Springs PD says he did... hid behind his car for 4 minutes while kids were getting shot then he deserves to be crucified. That's inexcusable.

I will fight you tooth and nail that isnt protocol

No shite. It's not like this guy was some private contractor hired by the school to only protect school grounds. He was a law enforcement officer.

Goodness give this up. Okay so at some point he thought he was off grounds. Then they realized he wasn't.
The city police showed up, got out their guns, organized, then went in the very same door that Peterson sat by the entire time.
Peterson let someone else go in first. No matter his orders, there is no excuse for that.
The Sheriff's department hasn't defended him.
The city police scrutinized him.
Peterson resigned.
Not sure how much else we need?

It still doesn't change the fact that he did nothing. Even if he thought the shooter was outside he still hid behind a tree. That many gunshots tells you that the shooter has targets... so you need to go toward the sound of gunfire and fricking stop it. That's your job.

You can fight me, but you are going to lose this.

If they thought he was off school grounds, why did everyone show up at the school and go in the front door?

Correct

It doesn't matter anyway... bc the shooter was IN THE SCHOOL.
Posted on 2/26/18 at 3:59 pm to lsupride87
quote:I think what he is saying is that the officer failed miserably. If you take him at the word of this story he is taking a position from a shooter that he has no idea where the shooter is located.
Are you saying taking position outside and assessing the situation not what he was supposed to do if the shooter was outside?
He was there long enough to discern that IF the shooter WAS at the football field, he was no longer located there.
He still remained in a concealed position, he heard the gunfire continue.
He may have never found the gunman in time to save a single life. But he is a coward for hanging out behind the car.
Then to cover up his cowardice he made up a story to tell the arriving officers that made them think they were in danger.
By then it was all over.
He may not have saved one life, but he may have selected the correct hall and saved many.

If they thought he was off school grounds, why did everyone show up at the school and go in the front door?
The rest of my argument is now a hypothetical with Salmon

They were hiding in the school so the brave resource officer could fight the gunman off outside
