Can’t speak to this.

I enjoy being a sturdy adult who is gainfully-employed.

So I remain clean shaven.

No.

It's hair and skin.

If it is a short beard, just shampoo like normal. The times I've grown mine out to a substantial length it became much more important to condition/use beard oil.

just soap and water when i shower and comb in morning.

Trim every 1-2 weeks. when i let it grow longer i do need to wax it a little to keep it in place. kinda got wiry hair.

I put a few drops of oil in mine, like a couple times a year when it’s feeling dryer than normal. I do have a brush that I use, but mostly only when I’m overdue for a trim. My maintenance and upkeep is minimal, and I get a lot of compliments on my beard

Some folks talk about all kinds of oils and washes and brushes. I’m rocking a .50 comb from the store and seem to be doing fine.

Don't shampoo it often, washes off the face oils and you get dry skin in my experience. Just need to clean it once or twice a week with shampoo.

Head and shoulders conditioner feels awesome on it though and I do that every day. A dab of beard oil rubbed into it after the shower then combed down. Oil keeps it from being becoming a pube fro. Trim it on Sundays to same length and clean up the edges/upper lip every few days.

when i had a long beard, i used some balms and oils mainly for my skin underneath and keeping it manageable. Short beard, nope

How about keeping it clean? In the last 2 weeks, I've been in meetings with guys with their big old beards that visibly had "stuff" in them. Most likely food, but who knows.

Also, for those rookie beard sports, you have to wash that crap like you wash your hair. Nobody wants to smell that dirty crap!

Shave it, maintain it, or go f'ing live in the woods!

Meetings mixed with office guys and construction site guys and "guys" who think it's cool to act like they are Neanderthals.

What kinda rock do you live under that you think a beard prevents you from being gainfully employed?

To the OP, I have a short beard (around an inch long), and I use beard wash but nothing else on it. If I use regular shampoo it dries it out.

It increases with the level of BSC (blood soy content). Probably peaks at dudes with man buns.

Odd comment, but no.

I simply stated I get compliments to say my beard isn't scraggly or fricked up. If using shampoo on it when I shower makes me obsessed, so be it.

Trust me, if having a beard required a ton of maintenance, I wouldn't have one.
