Got it September and I've been incredibly happy with the results.

I've never heard insurance covering any parts of LASIK, probably because contacts/glasses are significantly cheaper.

Do NOT go with a low cost provider.

LaHaye in Lafayette did not have the software at the time for my procedure and referred me to Dr. Hebert in Baton Rouge.

If this is a vote, it looks like the “eyes” have it.

Is 58 too old for it?

yes, you can do it but it may only last for a year or two

after 50 your eyes keep changing shape so the lasik surgery is pointless, but im sure they will still take your money if you dont do your research

I watched a video on it and it looks horrifying. Is the end result worth it?

My wife was legally blind without glasses on. She had the RK surgery and threw her glasses away instantly. That was at least 20 yrs ago. She wears readers now but thats all.

Yes. It's a near certainty it would be the best money you ever spent.

It was quick and relatively painless. Best money I’ve ever spent. Changed my life, no kidding.

Do you have astigmatism? Yep

So do I and even though LASIK worked initially it didn’t last.

100%
Only regret was not doing it sooner
They give you Valium to take before so it’s not bad at all

Yes! Had mine 15 years ago. Starting to notice that my vision is not as good as it was but still don't need glasses. Would 100% do it again if I need to.

Been wearing contacts for about 25 years with pretty god awful eyesight -7.50 and -6.50) now as I get older my eyes start to dry out all the time and constantly putting drops in as well

I had the approximate same numbers as you, very bad.
Had the lasik almost 10 years ago.
I would do it again in a heartbeat and I'd be willing to pay a large sum of money to get the fantastic results I have.
I'm still extremely grateful for that surgery.

Just a PSA for all the negative fives and worse . LASIK does not change the shape of your eye. Normal eyesight has eyes shaped like basketballs . The cable attached from your retina to your brain is never stretched . For those of us with bad eyes … eyes are shaped like footballs and the cable that runs from your eye to your brain is stretched as you age . Worse the eyesight … the more stretching occurs . If it snaps … has it did for me … retinal detachment. I had no idea I had any kind of risk … went to eye doctors my entire life for contacts … not one said “ hey , you have a long eyeball , when you get to be older go to a retinal doctor and have them monitor it . “
For me … my vision is back in that eye with no contacts , somewhat distorted 20/30 vision without correction after four eye surgeries . Also the first surgery (,where they reattach the retina ) the recovery is face down for two freaking weeks . This was the most brutal
Part . sleep face down . Watch tv in a special chair with a mirror so your head is face down . Eat face down.
By the end of two weeks … I didn’t know if my eyesight was worth it .

I will end my rant, but for all you people with really bad eyes that had lasik … do yourself a favor . Go to a retinal doctor and have them look at your eyes . Maybe they tell you come back every year , or every five years or you’re good … don’t come back .
