“Go to the parades grounds on game day”

I am pretty sure I spend a lot more time on campus than you do and have over a longer multi decade time frame..

Yes the campus is beautiful.. many old beautiful buildings and many new beautiful ones..

People are being cautious in their wording but yes the discussion is about the population..

Using the parade grounds on game day is an odd choice.. we know what is there on that day and in general it does not reflect the overall demographics of the university ..

There is no doubt the students population “personality” has changed in recent years..

The university changed something. Lots of op stated the obvious.. it is fixable ..

LSU needs to go test-required and set some reasonable minimum standards ASAP. Once any school or neighborhood crosses a certain threshold, white flight happens and that is the end. I've never seen it at a college, but its happened at many high schools.

Tigerland is rundown as is the area north of campus but I don’t find campus ghetto at all. I think that LSU has a beautiful campus which I miss running, walking and biking around.

I think it is more about the culture trends of the campus undergraduates the past few years and especially this fall, the culture LSU pushed during freshman orientation week this past fall, and the game day culture issues this fall including a couple of instances of shootings on campus which required closing down some tailgating areas and bringing in extra law enforcement for the A&M to get under control.

It’s over. Done. Stick a fork in it. One of the few things that made living in BR bearable has been flushed down the shitter in the name of DEI.

It's sad. I have great memories of LSU and enjoying LSU sports with my family (and reminds me of my grandparents a lot). Jettisoning academic standards has predictably lowered many standards of the student body. I'm glad my daughter was not interested in LSU, and that's really sad as a long-time Baton Rouge resident and LSU alumnus. Cue the Italian guy dressed up as an Indian crying.

I’ll be on campus Monday for the first time since 2018 to go to the basketball game. I’m very curious to see how it’s changed.

I'll be there too, but you won't see the depressing stuff at 7pm while students are away for the holidays. It'll just be the people going to the game.

You will not see at an event dominated by an older fan base and spirited students wearing a popcorn bucket on their head.. go to a student event like fall fest on the parade grounds.. or other similar non academic activities.

I'm dismayed that the old Plantation Trace apartments (once "the" place to live for LSU students) has turned into a slum.

I lived there junior/senior years... unfortunately that's been a slum for many years now.

For a comparison the incoming 2015 fall freshman class was 72.5% white and 13.4% black.

49.9% and 48.6% White the last two fall freshman classes. Most people don’t realize that. It has nothing to do with the proximity to the ghetto turning LSU into what it is. It’s the new student body. LSU will be White minority soon. Stick a fork in it.

President Tate, along with others in the administration, were actively shifting LSU to a minority heavy university. They dropped ACT/SAT requirements, and went solely off gpa’s. Getting a 3.0 in many HS’s is a given at this point. I think Tate was told to find another job by Landry’s people, and I’m glad they did. Some people here think Tate was great because he said the right thing about the football or baseball team, but he was destroying the university.

Wait until all the whites are gone and it will crumble like every other major city or area that is majority black. That culture cannot sustain anything good on its own. It’s sad but true. Why anybody in the admin would think differently is beyond stupidity

I don't think it's on their concern list. I don't care what color your skin is, where you came from, or how you worship. Unfortunately it seems that the now-majority black culture is anti-MLK Jr. and just wants to destroy or take over anything and everything. My opinion of these "leaders" is dismissive, not because of who they are, but because of what I consider to be an evil agenda and how they present themselves (unethical and uneducated).

My purpose is not to offend any particular group, but enough is enough. If standards are racist, then yes, of course, I'm racist -- but you won't see me getting worked up because I'm called it. It seems like the right side to be on, even as I don't actively wish anyone harm. In their lust for destruction they've actually done a lot of people a favor because we see them for what they are now.

The interesting thing about Tate going to Rutgers is they are already only 33% white and 29% Asian. I’m sure that Asian includes middle eastern students. It’s only 8% black. Will he try the same stuff there?

Sports and I guess a white fraternity are the white alumni’s bling bling distracting them from what was happening with DEI undergraduate enrollment focus.

Already have. Others have as well.

But hey he brought back DKE…

If the numbers at LSU stay this out of proportion (blacks making up 13% of the population but 45+% of the student body), it will be a self fulfilling prophecy. Whites won’t even want to attend LSU.

LSU can be the Southern of the SEC

Louisiana is about 33% black population, Baton Rouge is majority black now (52% or 53%). You want LSU to be a white albatross unreflective of neither it's state nor its local environment.

I actually don't have a problem with that, but let's be honest and call a spade a spade.
