Another lie fed to us by our government to send our brave warriors to be fed into the meat grinder for no reason. 9/11 disgusts me. So many lives were ruined that day but we doubled down and ruined families for 10 years. Just like Vietnam.

quote:SNL welcomed Rudy Giuliani on their show. And the attorneys on Law and Order wore US Flag pins. And while the country wasn't "unified" -- people on both sides of the aisle were equally angered, scared, saddened, and hurt. And there was a brief period where everyone was sympathizing with NYC and waving American flags. Not everyone, but enough to notice. Bear in mind this was pre social media and YouTube, so most information was digested in TV or newspaper, not Twitter or Facebook. So there's no telling how many anti-Americans would have voiced their opposition if they could have done so safely behind the screen of their phone. Otherwise it was just sending a mass email or calling every person you know. Public perception varies greatly pre and post social media for sure. Life was better when you didn't know or care what everyone else in the world was thinking.
There was never any unification as a result of 9/11.

And now the city of New York is getting ready to elect a radical communist, Jew-hating Muslim to be its mayor.
Seriously, what the frick happened to this country?
Oh yeah.....

I can't imagine what it's like to be a parent of a fallen soldier in what turns out to be a useless war.
Oh, and Israel and the people that blindly support them are THE reason Bin laden curated the 9/11 attacks.

Respectfully, if this is about Kirk, keep this tf out of 9/11 threads please
Why? Those who are tired of hearing about Kirk certainly aren’t the types to care about 9/11

Anyone ever came up with a legit excuse why building 7 free fall collapsed when they weren't hit and there for had no jet fuel to melt the beams?

sadly, the days following 9/11 seem to the last time this country had a sense of unity. everyone mourned, cried, got pissed and stood up as AMERICANS.
now we are as divided as ever, politically, economically, religiously and morally. i have many views on the how/when/where and why we got to this point, nonetheless, we live in a time where being proud to be an AMERICAN gets you shot by your fellow American. we have to stand up again and we have to be better.

I wore my loudest red, white, and blue today but I’m in a pretty weird mood having seen what I saw yesterday. Like several others have said, had some trouble sleeping and woke up this morning thinking about it.

Good post. 9/11 was a tragedy, but at least it brought us all together.
I mentioned this in another thread, but sadly I think if something like 9/11 happened today we wouldn’t unite as a country like we did in 2001.

you’re yelling into the void. MachoMan spent 30 pages trying to derail and disappear the Kirk Assassination thread last night.

The sad thing is that on 9/11 our country was attacked by foreign terrorists who hate this country because they despise what we stand for. Now the same hate is coming from members of our own citizenry, one of whom just murdered a young father with 2 small children because they didn't like what he had to say.

this country is imploding, don't know what can reverse this course, really sad

The dust literally had not settled and the usual suspects were blaming America; that we had brought it on ourselves and, by extension, deserved it.
Maybe, but the mood was different. People came together and love of country was evident. Sure some people were shitheads, but in God's country we mourned and honored those lost. Patriotism spiked.
