re: Job letting me go if I don't get vaccinated.

would argue that unions fell out of public popularity, especially among conservatives and traditionalists, because those contingents viewed business as generally fair under existing labor laws, etc. Basically - if you want to nit pick, go find a new job (or raise hell and get fired if you prefer). I'm not sure unions in a natural form were ever completely out of favor with the public, but grassroots employee movements becoming institutionalized - complete with needless government agency - isn't that. And of course, it became dumbed down such that "union" was just an ugly word with a negative connotation and nobody cared about the nuance
So there's a lot of irony on both sides. One is that unions vote overwhelmingly democratic, who overwhelmingly are in favor of vaccinating people, yet the most lenient policies of vaccination fall to those who are unionized, because they have bargaining power.
Now, you have folks on one side of the aisle who have been huge proponents of at will employment and union busting out right criticize at will employment and threaten unionizing their workplace if they don't get their way.
It's kind of all over the place

But there is no federal law mandating vaccines.
Correct but SCOTUS shot up the flair to indicate they think mandates are constitutional. This creates a big problem for states making mandates against the law. Not necessarily insurmountable but a significant potential roadblock for a state.
If the free market isn't able to prevent mandates, which I very well think it might be able to if people hold strong, I doubt the legal system will bail them out. The unintended consequences are too far reaching.

It’s amazing that people don’t realize these employer mandates are about preventing disruption in their business from off days because of Covid infections

Well, I agree with you there. I would not rely on the legal system to bail out the unvaxxed. It would be a part of the fight but not the only part. I just hope enough people are willing to fight. And hopefully the vaxxers will join the unvaxxed tribe in that fight because at that point it's not about the vax.
It's about freedom from mandated medical care versus employment decisions. It's the vaccine or your job today. What will it be tomorrow? IDK but it's not going to be more autonomy. The federal government will want more.

There is pretty wide support of vaccine mandates on the OT. Way more than I'd have thought at least
Yeah it’s not about the vaccine it’s about mandates. I’ve had covid and just want a little more information and time to go by before I get it. I never get the flu shot but as I get older I’ll probably get the flu shot but I haven’t had the flu or ran a fever in 15 plus years. Hell I’ve never owned a thermometer until 6 months ago.
Don’t have kids or I’d probably use one several times a year.

Losing your job for something that basically amounts to a small pinch to your arm isn't that smart opinion, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion
Surely you understand that for most people that don't want the vaccine it's not because of the needle prick but rather that they don't trust what's in the syringe?

It is a lot more than that. The issue is autonomy. People should have a right to make informed, uncoerced medical decisions. That is the winning argument.

You expect these slope heads to think further than 1 step ahead?
The level of stupidity on the left is beyond anything you could imagine.
I've read that stupid "afraid of a pinch" quirp they think is so clever a hundred times on this site. They don't have the ability to think beyond that level of complexity. Cause and effect and consequences of actions isn't in the lefts lexicon.

It won't happen but it would be hilarious if large numbers of employees called their bluff.
This. 60% of my company is unvaccinated. The top brass said they were discussing vaccine mandates and they were met with a litany of backlash. Today they said they aren’t mandating it. For once the employees have the power.

Of course. I wasn't being literal. It's called a figure of speech.

What I’m getting from your long and unbelievably stupid diatribe is that requiring you to be vaccinated in order to remain employed at a private business has long-standing precedent.
Also of note, I never at any point used the words “free market.” You did. I specifically referred to “capitalism.”
If you can’t understand the difference, you’re too retarded to debate.

You hear what you want to hear, and you have economic systems and philosophy mixed up in your head. It's easy to just pick the one that fits whatever sentence you need to fill with drivel, but every now and then you don't have the hoardes or the mods of reddit to back up your angry rant with a suspension or a ban.
You're confused and looking for justification of your skin deep angry authoritarian worldview.
Pity.
