Carson hated Wayne Newton because of that. He also hated Frank Gifford and Bob Hope. Carson was a totally different person off camera he could be mean as a snake and he never forgave people who he thought crossed him.

Used to watch him every night.

Now I like to watch reels with him interviewing Sinatra, Rickles, Dangerfield, etc.
