I am one of 35 people on the Zoom meeting with a consultant who teaches businesses the EOS system of management. I am the General Manager, so I am sort of required to be there.
I don't think it would be that easy to reschedule.
hope you explained as much in your request to be excused. The last two times I had jury duty, the two judges were royal cocksuckers to the people who asked to be excused. It was rather insulting as a taxpayer to see their disregard for the public. Changed my whole opinion of my "civic duty'. Our judicial system is an utter failure at this point.

Why do people hate jury duty so much?

Working on it as we speak.
If you let them know you are trying to move the jury duty date and provide them with a copy of the summons, they will tell you to do your duty and n suggest a solution,ie, copy of the recorded zoom

Have them record it and send you a copy….
This is simple stuff for a Senior Manager, especially if you are 1 if 35 people on the zoom

The meeting is in Mountain Standard Time, so I will have to get someone else to record it, which as you know, does not always work out. Thanks for the suggestion.

your employer can suffer substantial penalties if they do not accommodate your jury duty.

It always has been. My uncle served 7 years for a crime he did not commit in 1969. He was finally pardoned by the Governor of Texas in 1976.
( Which is another reason why I am a bad person to serve)

Ask them to move the zoom training FORWARD 2 hours and let us know how they interpret it

Go up there, make some racist remarks, they'll dismiss you, and likely never call you again. It worked for my old man thirty years ago.
Yep.
Answer to any question should be "I'm sure the bastard has done something in his life that deserves death..."

Uhh...show up. If you don't get picked you good. If you get picked you good. I can guarantee that you can miss the training. Your work knows they are legally required to allow you to do jury duty. If work fricks with you on this, you can sue the living frick out of them and the judge will likely arse rape them on top of all the money you will get.
But the odds are you won't get picked anyway. The odds are if you tell the judge your concerns with work, he/she will let you go home.
So show up and stop being a bitch.

So I've been called to jury duty and have had two summons that was pushed out. The first time I had Covid, and the second time I pulled a muscle in my leg and could not walk. Now I am up for the third time. I am starting a new job and have a Zoom training with a pre-arranged consultant that as a senior manager, I can not miss. I've asked for a different date, and am waiting for a response via email.
If I miss what's the penalty? Do they haul you off to jail?
But i did get to see bbap in there. he got out way earlier then me.

I just say I'm racist. Doesnt matter against who, white, black, hispanic, asian, whatever gets me out of jury duty.
Or when that doesnt work I tell them I know about jury nullification and usually that gets me excused.

Mostly sitting in a room waiting for four days and not being called to voir dire a single time.

They can come pick your arse up and bring you. They probably will not if they have enough but they could.

I've been on 2 juries. Both civil cases that should have been settled out of court. The only reason they went to trial is because the plaintiffs were obviously incredibly greedy with what they wanted in relation to documented damages (like 10 times with the "we want to send a message" spiel). We gave them the minimum. Both jurys were disgusted with then wasting our time.
