Its about which democratic politician gets the money. Either the biden or pelosi cartel makes a fortune in kick backs with the drug cartels, depending on the drug.

And can we all be honest? If it wasn’t for the CIA introducing crack into the black community and stirring up violence the likes this country hadn’t seen since the Wild West, there would be no war on drugs.

Name me an intoxicant that the government has welcomed the use of in the last century?

I agree. It will never happen, but I think we should decriminalize everything. Similar to what Portugal did.

The government can’t solve simple problems let alone complex ones like addiction.

War on drugs is a grift like every other big program.

Give drugs to the losers for free. Maybe normal people won't have to worry so much about their stuff being stolen by dope addicts.
It takes a real moron to think that.

I’d be unsurprised if they didn’t steal more. Because they’d be constantly stoned they can’t work. Going to give them free food, housing, cellphone, etc?

You can legalize all frickin day and addicts are still gonna do addict shite to pay for their fix.

That includes stealing your catalytic converters.

the high incarceration rate for non violent crimes

This is a myth that keeps getting repeated by the stoners. There aren’t high incarceration rates for non violent crimes. The criminals being incarcerated are pleading down to lesser charges and being offered plea deals by lazy DAs. Make no mistake, if they’re being locked up, they’re bad actors. Most petty criminals aren’t even getting prosecuted so you can blow that argument out of your arse.

I think we need to take the opposite approach and not treat drug addiction. If a person gets taken to the hospital for an overdose, we should treat them as if the decision to take drugs was them accepting the risks of overdose and let them die.

Tired of wasting resources or them. Let them die and then people will eventually stop doing drugs because they will see how horrible the consequences of their actions are.

Oregon decriminalized hard drugs.

Portland's problem is they baby these people. Nothing is done to get people into treatment.

I like the concept but you can't expect better results if you expect nothing from the people with a problem.

Portland is a shite show and I hope the voters there get all that they ask for.

Plenty of people in the past days of the war on drugs have had long severe sentences for non violent crimes.

Legalized drugs would be a fraction of the cost, order of magnitudes less than illegal drugs.

Is it? How expensive is CO or CA weed?

I thought there were still huge issues with gray and black markets
