Why don’t they sell alcohol?
Where I live - Baptists and Church of Christers from what I'm told. Now, if the alcohol taxes collected in the wet counties went back into those wet counties then we might be hearing a different tune played. However, in Arkansas it doesn't work that way. Our county gets their fair share of alcohol taxes collected. I have a 40 mile round trip to make when I get in the "spirits" mood.

This is always the default argument. If you have anything wrong with homosexuals, you yourself must be gay. Not even worth addressing. It is just so stupid. Imagine if we made this argument for everything.

I mean if you have an issue with a march you never see unless you go to it, it’s kinda weird. And you’re not going to find many decently sized cities without the marches. We have them in Dallas and if no one told me when it was, I would never know. I only knew this year because Barefoot was a sponsor
You’re using the same reasoning with alcohol in this thread. You don’t want to be around alcohol because why? You tempted to drink?

His posts make him sound more like a high school dropout than a college one.
Not very bright that one.

Maybe you should try it
While you're sitting on the high horse, people are out there having a good time. You're missing out.

My first wife and I visited some friends of hers in Marshall Arkansas back in the mid 80s. I think I had to drive an hour to find booze and in Marshall, it's a necessity.

I had a former coworker that lived in a dry county in Arkansas. He told he'd have to drive 45+ minutes to get beer so he'd buy 7-8 cases while we was there

When I found a store, it was packed. I certainly did stock up. It was a couple counties away.

Reminds me of one of the only times I was affected by being in a dry county. My buddy and I were camping in one of the national forest in Ms and it was getting close to dark and we realized neither of us had thought to grab some beer. My friend said no problem and left to go get some. He came back an hour later pissed off saying he had to go two counties over to find a store that had any for sale.

Yep. Usually called "county line liquor" or something similar and very popular. You'll find several stores right on the line profiting from the Prohibitionist policies

They aren't even accurate. 2 beers could land you in jail.

I have a deer camp in Lincoln Parish. I can tell you there is no place between Simsboro and Dry Prong that can sell beer on Sundays. It's a boring ride down 167.

Exactly why the wet counties pay the politicians of dry counties to keep the county dry. But of course it’s on moral grounds..

Basically it is a case of those who heeded the Baptist mantra that alcohol is bad. Under the guise of "treat your body as a temple of the Lord."
I can't bring to mind any legitimate biblical reasons commanding dry parishes. Closest being "be not drunk with wine...". But, "wine maketh the heart merry". So, like many biblical admonitions, the warning is to avoid excess and pursue moderation in all things.
The temple of the Holy Spirit seems more aligned with pursuing and maintaining sexual purity than drinking a little too much.

I live in the bible belt.
Have to drive 30 miles to the next county over to go to the liquor store.
