Going in raw.
Also, this does not appear to be him ruling. Unless I just don't understand how legal speak works.. This is just his official opinion.
I'm sure it would be leaned on in court, but until it gets to a court, I don't think it supersedes the order.
Where was this 3 months ago?

In summary, the three provisions of the executive order -the mask mandate, the 50- person indoor/outdoor gathering limit, and the bar closure -are likely unconstitutional and unenforceable. Although the mask mandate and the 50-person limit may be good recommendations for personal safety, they may not be enforced with financial or criminal penalties. Both businesses acting under color of law as mask police and actual police acting as mask police could face liability if individual civil rights are violated due to the Proclamation.

Many police dept have said they arent going to issue citations.....private businesses and public building can do what they want..

Give me a fricking break......
I'd rather him do something like this regarding the bullshite contract tracing and businesses requiring people to sign in and give out their personal and medical information to minimum wage twenty year old kids.

Seems to me like a business can determine on its own that they want to require masks or turn away customers, but the Governor damn sure can't make it a mandate.
A business can absolutely create their own mask rule for customers.
The big thing in this is overturning the bar closures.

So, why are all you mouth breathing idiots against wearing masks?

Yeah I don’t care one way or another about the mask stuff. Let’s see how this plays out with bar owners

Most people are not against wearing masks. They are against the government telling them they have to wear masks. There's a difference.

I wonder if he's been formally asked. The Attorney General's office doesn't just put opinion out because the AG feels like it. The AG has to be directly asked for an opinion via letter by a member of any state or local government.

Sounds like a challenge for the Democrats to write a law in 2021 that says you must wear a mask during a pandemic.
The Democrats have like 9 people in the Louisiana Legislature so you won’t see them be able to in this state.

Businesses will still enforce since it was already started.

Print the letter up saying that it's unconstitutional and try to educate some fools then.

Hayride
We’re about to see something interesting happen in Louisiana, because Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry just unloaded a legal opinion on the overreaching statewide mask mandate and bar closure that Gov. John Bel Edwards proclaimed over the weekend (it went into effect on Monday).
The opinion, which was sought by several members of the legislature – Reps. Larry Bagley, Beau Beaulieu, Rick Edmonds, Dodie Horton, Blake Miguez, Chuck Owen and Alan Seabaugh, and Sen. Robert Mills – is most definitely not friendly to Edwards’ proclamation. In fact, it deploys a chapter-and-verse assault on the constitutionality of the governor’s edict.
ETA
The bar closure is also problematic for several reasons. First, the Proclamation provides little data to support a statewide closure of a single type of business, without regard to whether the business is operating with the utmost care and a perfect record, operates exclusively with outdoor service, or operates in a geographical location with little data showing spikes related to bars.
The Proclamation vaguely refers to a handful of outbreaks traced to “bars” but does not say where those outbreaks occurred and does not place the minimal data in the context of the total number of facilities that qualify as a “bar.”
It also only vaguely connects outbreaks by stating they “may be” related to bars based on hearsay from contact tracing.
Without stating adequate data to support it, the Governor has singled out one type of business and punished hundreds of law-abiding business owners.

The business can still require a mask. Their store, their rules. If you don't like whichever stance the business takes on masks, all you can do is follow their rules or tell them in no uncertain terms why you are taking your business elsewhere.
