I was told as a child by my grandmother that Monkey Hill at Audubon Zoo was actually a fallen star.

The glass mansion off of Highland Road. Supposedly build by a rock star / singer who died before it was finished. Stories say it was haunted / devil worshiping going on. I went once it was pretty much torn down. It was around the intersection of Highland and Burbank and Seigan Road.

Leonard Nimoy’s In Search Of episodefrom the 1970’s featuring the Honey Island Swamp monster.
The episode has a short clip that captures some of the businesses on Covington’s Main Street, Boston Street, at the time, including a CB radio store.
They interview a guy who talks about seeing the monster from a bridge but the bridge is actually between downtown Covington and Claiborne Hill in an area with lots of car traffic and buildings. Oh well.

Ever heard of Onionhead?
quote:
Many decades ago, an albino African American gentleman with a disfigured face was persecuted by the townsfolk; accused of murdering a young girl. One day the people of the town caught him and killed him. As an act of revenge, the young man’s mother placed a hex on the land that her son would return from the grave as the monster the townsfolk believed him to be.

I was told there was an elderly lady in a rocking chair haunting Old Barataria Road in the national park when I was a kid.

I forget what they call sleep paralysis, or The Old Hag, but the NOLA area has their own version of it.
Cauchemar pronounced 'koosh ma'. That's Cajun/Creole and extends beyond the NOLA area.

I lived about 1000 yards from the glass mansion, played in it many, many times. I had heard it was either the bass player or backup guitar player for Jimi Hendrix (as the legend goes). This was early to mid-80’s. It did have its normal “devil worshipping graffiti, etc.

I lived near Perkins and Seigan from 1998-2002. I remember when they started clearing the land and we saw the old house back there. I didn’t know that was the guitar shaped mansion that people talked about until you just pointed out the location. Yep, they tore it all down around 2002 or so.

Tunnels under LSU
Around 1981, Dungeons and Dragons was big in the geek community. They started playing it live. They found an unlocked entrance by the music building and played in there for months, until caught. Rumor was that some guy had set up a bar, selling drinks and snacks.
I never went in, but heard that the tunnel system went all over LSU's campus. Nobody ever claimed to have seen the old military airplane under Tiger stadium though.

If you value your sanity, you’ll never make mention of this again.
Ever.
