Kick in the nuts is right. The wife and I have a serious decision to make as to whether we are going to continue having Waitr in our restaurant. Part of the reason we opened our own business was to not have others dictate how we operate. This feels like a bully move by Waitr.

Free Enterprise baw. They have the right to charge what they want and you have the right to tell them to kick rocks. As it should be.

It is what the small businesses need to do. Waitr employees are scrambling right now. This was not well thought out

Is this what people without DoorDash and UberEats use?

Yes. I usually encourage people to use waitr as it was a much better deal for the business. All the other groups take 24% or more right off the top. Dont forget the amount of money spent on to go packaging. It is significant.

Now that they are publicly traded there’s more pressure to show a profit. Something I don’t think they’ve ever done at the current rates.

That’s what I have a problem with. Waitr shouldn’t be able to control the prices.
One of my buddies has a fairly popular restaurant and he won’t use them. Liquor has always had a big markup because you don’t make a lot of profit on food. With Waitr, the liquor component is taken out of the profit equation then you throw on 15-25% in fees and I don’t see how you can turn a profit. The fees should be paid by the consumer and not the restaurant.

I agree with waitr not wanting to be at a competitive disadvantage. If the restaurant raises prices for all to go orders then that is fair.

Next step for Waitr to end up owning the moon.

Sounds like waitr may br going out of business.

99% of the time when I use Waitr, I do the self pick up. I basically just use the app as a way to order and there is no fee. It also is convenient to see the different options around me.
For delivery, I’ve only used it once for a big order and once for a local pizza during a football game when I had already had a few beers.

Good thing a law was just passed that allows waitr to deliver liquor

Yeah she's not a baller by any stretch. Probably makes 50k and regularly buys $20 lunches

The other day we were hammered and wanted some food. Tried to Waitr something from Chimes East and we're apparently not in the delivery area. This even though we were probably less than 4 miles away.
I've encountered this a few times with Waitr but have since switched to Doordash, Grubhub, or just ordered from restaurants that deliver (Carrabas, etc)
Waitr is definitely not the best choice anymore. They served a purpose in proving BR would support restaurant deliveries but now they need to just get out of the way.

If I have a huge order, I go to the restaurant and pick it up. I want to check that the order is right before it gets delivered to my house.
