Yep, never again from Maui Jim...

Several years ago, my son stepped on pair of my Maui Jims that had fallen on floor of the car. It broke the hinge.
I called and sent them in. They repaired them for free and even sent them back in a new case. I didn’t have any warranty or proof of purchase to provide them.

mj optics are great but had a pair on...bridge broke as i was putting them on...
customer service said send them back and they will put my lenses on a new frame for (i do not remember) a pretty good bit of money...
they were only a year old and not abused yet....
i said no and wrote a very very strongly worded review and posted on their website...
they contacted me and said the would put replace my frame for postage cost only and would appreciate it if i revised my post with the outcome....i said ok

You realize they aren’t the only ones with polarized lenses, right?

Supposedly their customer service is top notch.
It's not. I was offered the same thing when a screw backed out of the lens of a frameless set I had. They came apart and one of the lenses was terribly scratched right across my eye. They offered replacement lenses at $XX but they would throw new screws in "for free".
I crushed them and left them on the desk at The Optical Shoppe where I bought them,
Same thing with a pair of eyeglasses at Williamson. Bought a pair of glasses with the wire bottom rim. Went back a year later, got an exam and a new prescription. Was told that they couldn't change lenses on those frames (that I bought there just a year earlier) because they can't "restring" them. I asked her how they got the lenses in there in the first place and got the biggest blank stare ever. Those went in the trash as well.

When is national sunglass repair week? Looks like national sunglass day is June 27th. Wonder if they coincide.
My 6yo pair of MJs just got a crack in them. I need to send them in.

Outside layer was peeling off of lenses, they sent me a totally free replacement pair.
This has been my experience as well with Costa...
Costa warrant service used to be awesome. Seems to be hit or miss these days with a more complicated process.

Paid almost $300 for some Maui Jim sunglasses because I need polarized lenses.
It has probably been said already, but you don’t need to spend $300 to get polarized lenses. There is a rack at the shell station that has pairs of polarized glasses for like $5.

Got my first pair of Maui Jims a couple of months ago, by far the best lenses I have ever used. Super clear, other people will have sunglasses on and be complaining about the sun still and I will be perfectly fine.
These are the exact model I got, I love the red lava lens.

Maui Jim’s, great customer service. Very nice midwestern people where they’re made in Peoria, Illinois.

Dude, I’m fricking terrible at keeping up with $250+ sunglasses… so I went to Walgreen’s and bought a pair of “Foster Grant Polarized Sunglasses” for like $12.99 and I’ve lost like 2-3 pair so far… they look exactly like Ray-Ban Wayfarers, they’re polarized, and their cheap AF.

If you still have the receipt I think they will fix everything for free. Their customer service is awesome.

Your fault for not rocking a frat strap.

I’ve been a loyal MJ customer since 1996. I still have the first pair I bought, they’re beaten up and still functional, but tucked in a drawer and haven’t been worn in 15 years. They’re tiny, that was the style back then. The lenses are real glass.
I’ve had 3 pair of the rimless MJ sports and they don’t have the same durability. They crack at the screw attachment over time. I’ve not sent any of those back for repair.
I currently keep a pair in my car and always have a second pair to wear for sporting - tennis, boating, etc or for when I’m in my wife’s car. A couple months ago, that pair’s temple cracked. I was in the mall and on a whim bought a new pair. One month into ownership, I was sailing and our hobie flipped. In the process of righting the boat, I crushed my new glasses and one of the lenses popped out and the temple broke. I sent them back to MJ along with the other pair that had a broken temple. I learned that temple replacements are free but I had to pay $85 for the new lens. Of course, it was my fault so no objection from me. Happily, the others were fixed so it was like getting another pair free.
I rarely lose something like glasses, and given the excellent customer service I’ve experienced,I’ll stick with MJs.

Oakley's have the most durable lens. Or buy cheaper like Suncloud and Tifosi so you won't lose a ton of money when you drop them again.
