They will get this revenue somehow. Expect property taxes to be raised.

Why Louisiana didn’t fast track doing this is beyond me. Has a proven track record of turning states around
Because they were too busy stuffing the tax plan bill and amendment with extra stuff. That's why the amendment to "eliminate income tax and simplify LA Tax Code" is 115 pages long.

They just added 115 pages of shite that is now subject to sales tax. Ie, not lowering your taxes

While this is great, let’s also give them a huge frick you for killing the PBM reform bill . All the sweat equity in fighting for it, all for nothing. And almost everyone in the state will suffer once these independant pharmacies who’ve been barely treading water finally give up and close with no reform on the horizon and any hope of future profit is now dead When everyone has to go to cvs and Walgreens because that’s all that’s left, everyone can thank our cowardly legislature . It didn’t have to be this way.
This.
We HAVE to pass legislation that protects small businesses, or we will not make it against China.

They will just raise another tax. I don't know why you people get so excited about this crap.
Because with a consumption tax, you control how much you pay in taxes.

You can't control how much money you make?

Every representative in the house while taking money from Ergon, capital resources, centene, etc… and killing the bill “we love independent pharmacies! I use an independent pharmacy myself!” I am encouraged the way the pharmacy community banded together this year though. In the past that’s not happened on a scale like this.
Corporate donations and lobbying have to be outlawed.

What are they replacing it with? If more property taxes, I wouldn't be on board.
Gasoline. Which is pretty safe bet.

I just hate seeing you poor baws stay poor, but you voted for it so you have no one to blame but yourselves.
You’re not just being fed a shite sandwich, you’re telling the cronies how good it tastes

Tate Reeves strikes me as one of the slimier governors in our Union. He just screams corruption and treating $70M of federal welfare dollars as a slush fund when Lt. Governor was a sign of things to come. No idea how dude was elected after that bullshite.
Because he's recruiting the hell of business and industry to this state. He's also fervently against perverted liberal gender ideology. Lastly, his adversary had no clue to how to govern. A lost ball in high weeds.

This is the same as Louisiana, this is just a tax swap. There is no industry in either state, so the populace is saddled with the tax burden. Mississippi citizens will be satisfying the tax budget, whether it through income or another tax.
The only way “to put money back” in citizens pockets is to cut spending
Certainly can count on Alabama's lottery dollars, it seems.

Uh, no industry in Louisiana!!! Hey Stevie Wonder, less geaux! Get that &hit outta here!

All the idiots up vote this and vote against amendment 2.

People also want nice things like roads, police and fire protection, good schools, libraries, parks, etc. Those things cost money and are paid for by taxes.
What you're ignoring is the large amount that goes to bureaucratic bullshite.
If people knew their money was being spent wisely most would be fine with, but we have blatant evidence to the contrary.
Just because a portion goes to good community needs, doesn't mean we should just hand it over indiscriminately.

OP is either did not read on this or purposefully lying
This is go from 4% to 3%. Sales tax increases 7% to 9%. Gasoline tax increases. That makes 0 difference at all to tax burden.
quote:
Mississippi is currently reducing its income tax rate to 4% from a previously passed tax cut being phased in. Beginning in 2027, the new law will reduce that rate by .25% over four years until it reaches 3%. In 2031, the tax will only be reduced if certain revenue “growth triggers” are met.
This is go from 4% to 3%. Sales tax increases 7% to 9%. Gasoline tax increases. That makes 0 difference at all to tax burden.
