Or just use the money that you’d pay bulldozing it to fix whatever it is making the power bill so high…

That was our latest bill, mild weather helped a lot. Wife likes temp in LR and BR at 68, then turns the heater on an hour before bedtime, then AC back on. Post menopause of course. 1958 home 1700 sq ft. Entergy, lots of shade

Little over 7800, 4 units (4 ton, two 3 tons, and a 2 ton) built in mid 80s, gas/electric. Around 500 in the winter close to 1000 in the summer. We keep it at around 71 year round. All four units are less than 10 years old. They run more than our original ones, but the bill is no worse than the old units.

Yearly average is $75. 1,180 sq ft built in 1978.
That’s a pretty good price for cooling a bedroom.

We lived in an old antebellum type house growing up that used this much electricity it had no insulation whatsoever. I think during a heat wave one summer it was like 2500 dollars
House was 7,000 sq foot and had 3 central heat and air units. 2 for downstairs one for upstairs.
Gas bill was crazy high too. North wind in winter you could see your breath on the north side of the house if you didn’t run the heat wide open along with 6 gas fireplaces we would usually say frick it and close off the north half of the house so we wouldn’t have to run the fireplaces.

Monthly electric bill?
And like others mentioned, age of house, type/state of insulation, type of windows, light bulbs, etc. If you have incandescent bulbs and you keep them on they could easily eat $50-100/month.

Hire someone to put insulation in. Those old homes are just wood with no insulation and drafty as hell

Pay around $250/mo for a 3k sqft, three story house with three ac units. My house is newer. 1k/mo I'd burn that bitch down or sell

Gas and electric combined thru Coserve. 200 a month in winter and 300 in summer. Keep thermostat on 72 in the summer which is fine because we don’t have much humidity in north Dallas.
2800 sq foot 2 story with 2 units.

About $175/mo levelized
2400-2500/sq ft built in the 70s. We do have gas too but that's like $20/mo most of the year.
