Funny you'll get a $600 ticket for parking in a handicap zone but no penalties at all for yutes who grab all the grocery store scooters and run the batteries down.

quote:This type of behavioral contagion is dangerous to our society because it amplifies bad behavior faster than institutions and norms can correct it and isolated problems turn into systemic ones. Take, for example, the erosion of trust in our democratic election processes, the quiet quitting phenomenon, or the recent shoplifting sprees. Mistrust in our otherwise safe institutions are jeopardaized by misinformation being spread on social media and online.
low trust people make the new culture lower trust as well

I’m noticing it’s becoming more and more common for people to park in handicap spots. No handicap tag, no handicap decal hanging from the mirror, just get out of their vehicle and move along with no issues.
Give them a break. They just got here and are not familiar with our laws.

I dont understand this because the line is the least stressful part of flying. The less time I have to spend on the actual plane the better. Its not like your trip is shorter if you board first. Why would you want priority to sit on a hot plane while a bunch of tards try to squeeze past you?

A disabled vet plate is not an invitation to park in a handicap spot, either. Disability can be for many things including PTSD, hearing loss, etc., but many (usual suspects) DGAF and park in the handicap spots anyway. You still are supposed to have a handicap placard in addition to the DV plate.

Hate to admit it, but I had a friend that would use handicap parking all the time. He was an older man, 75, but he was fit enough to jog from the furtherest parking spot to the front door if needed. I asked him once why he did it and he said because his doctor gave it to him, he was going to use it.

The race is usually to the bottom and those people don’t have any self respect.

I once set next to a woman, white mid-late 30s and fairly attractive, that did this shite. She was already seated when I boarded, but I talked to her throughout the flight and she even gave me her number before we landed. As soon as we docked she asked for a wheelchair escort and they brought it, she casually stood up/sat in it and had them wheel her out before anyone else could exit. Straight up told me she didn’t need it, just wanted priority exiting
She also bought us a few rounds of drinks and told me after that they were free since she gave them a card that had no funds available, but because of how their pre-authorizations worked in the air they couldn’t verify funds mid flight and it still cleared anyway

The walk from anywhere on a plane to the gate is what, 300 feet, max, while the walk from ground transportation to the gate is what 27 miles? I am certain there are those who do it to skip the lines but most probably would be in severe pain walking across the airport.

I came around the corner at the grocery store a couple days ago and collided with a scooter being driven by a young guy who had the physical appearance of a wide receiver.
I drive them back to the store for my 85 year old dad several times a month. I have tried pushing them, they are damn near impossible to push and running the damned things while walking beside it is a good way to wind up in one yourself. I feel like everyone thinks Im a lazy bastard and they'd be right but I ain't lazy enough to use a mobility scooter to avoid walking. Old boy you ran into may have been returning it to the store from the parking lot.

This has been a plague in Tangipahoa Parish for about 20 years.

I agree when I see people riding them back to the store from the parking lot. I assume they're doing exactly what described but this guy looked like he should have been in an ad for Golds Gym.

I'm absolutely fine being the last person to board.
If assigned seating, I will be last or close to it. Ill literally stand outside the gate til they tell me to board.
WORST case scenario, they make you gate check your carryon. This isn't that big of a deal though because your carryon will be at the top of the stack and one of the first to get off the plane as well

Because if someone reacts, they have huge fits, threaten lawsuits, claim discrimination, etc.
The only way to reverse the trend is to stop is to allow and encourage strong reactions. We are all rights, no responsibilities. Our society has also lost a sense of shame.
