Midtown West is up and coming. Lot of good food, bars, dives. Near Tech. Would add a little to your drive but nothing too brutal especially once you learn how to avoid the interstates and not take peachtree everywhere like a new

Roswell road area south sandy springs / north buckhead also might be a decent option for you. Few different ways to get to work and can get to buckhead/Brookhaven/sandy springs. And if you like milfs johnny’s Hideaway will be nearby.

Decatur or Acworth for that price I’m guessing. Lived in Vinings from 99-03 and paid about that much in rent on a one bedroom.
Acworth to Dunwoody would be hell. I live here in Acworth and I love it but you couldn't pay me to make that commute every day.
I think you can decent apartments here for less than 1k but there aren't a huge number of apartments. It's mostly subdivisions and residential neighborhoods with houses.

for sure.
And to the OP on commutes, off highway traffic is typically far worse and the majority of commute, so look near highway. Honestly again, Perimeter is your best option(besides the single women), especially if renting. Do you want to pay 1k and drive two hours a day or slightly more and have a cake walk of a commute.

Alpharetta
If you are living in an apartment in alpharetta, I hope you like indians....
But once they get the downtown area finished, it will be very nice. already open container and several good restaurants with 12 more opening. but all the town homes start at 500k and quickly go up

Perimeter is a good suggestion.

Office is just NE of Dunwoody
Dunwoody address? What someone considers just NE of Dunwoody might open you up to other options. What major roads are near your office?

Perimeter, downtown Roswell (typically an older crowd but it seems like it's getting younger), brookhaven

Will definitely check that out

You should check out downtown Roswell and Alpharetta, as both are pretty cool. That said, I think you'll decide it's more of a early 30s with young kids hangout than a late 20s single hangout.
I like downtown Acworth but i wouldn't ever commute in from up there and it's a much, much tamer and smaller revitalization than Alpharetta/Roswell.
Perimeter is hit or miss IMO. The good news is that right by the mall there are a bunch of half-decent apartments where you won't get shot. You may have ethnic neighbors, and being by the mall can be a curse. But it's a decent enough option
Whoever said north buckhead south Sandy Springs is right but I'm just not sure you can do it for 1k and it is a pretty young crowd.
I'd rank it: 1) Brookhaven 2) Buckhead/south Sandy Springs 3) Perimeter. Anything beyond that and you're going to have traffic issues, plus you'll get into higher volume traffic patterns. West Midtown would be great but that's a haul (my commute is basically a shorter version of that).

There are a bunch of new apartments being built on Peachtree near the Chamblee Marta station. They're borderline Chamblee/Brookhaven. I've heard they're affordable. Commute might be a little more than 30 minutes, but the area seems to be turning...the Whole Foods effect in action

Whatever you do, do not go to the Doll House.
Oasis Goodtime Emporium is ok, and obviously the Cheetah is topnotch.

Atlanta.... less then 30 min commute.....this will get about 12 miles in Atl traffic.

chamblee/Brookhaven are growing at a nice little pace with good restaurants and housing popping up. However, that Whole Foods is straight garbage terrible customer service, terrible hot food bar, and terrible butcher.
