Back in the day...
This was outside of Chris' Bar on North Street... They gave us our first gig, I think we were paid $100

Who is the new ownership group?
I’ll leave that for them to disclose. But they are guys who loved Murphy’s and whose other ventures you would likely be familiar with.

Saw D&C there with Fishbone opening up for them. This was about 5 days after MTV started playing Smells like Teen Spirit. D&C closed with a cover of that and the place exploded. Of course some shite hammered frat star starts yelling play “straight to hell”. Singer was like dude we played that 30 minutes ago.

What was Murphy's? Was that a Chimes Street bar from the 90's?
You cant miss it. It was right there next to Kadairs, just down from that A&P on Highland/Chimes. If you hit the movie theatre, double back, you've gone too far.

I did that at The Caterie during a Gutter Sharks show.

I was the DJ at Murphy’s in the summer and fall of ‘96. Truly epic time of my life. Will never forget the cast of character and antics that went on at Murphy’s, especially the Friday before and day of a home football game.

Will they bring back the huge mugs with a handle for game day drinking? I think they were $5 but held half a fifth. Good times.

Can't hear How soon is now by The Smiths and not think of that place.
I worked the night the Smiths played, I think every employee did. That was the most packed I had ever witnessed it being. As a fight would start, three of us would form a V and roll through, grab the guys, keep going out the back door and then go back around to the front..
Good times.

You have no idea.
Oh I have an idea. I did not catch a lifetime ban without doing some three wisemen shots on Wednesdays. I was at that Ezra show in 91 too. I was a bouncer at Fred's for a stint. a short stint. Then I got the ban. I was fricked until Bogies opened up.

I wonder if you're the one who was looking to murder me on the balcony of the Caterie for constantly yelling FREEBIRD during your set on some random Wed/Thursday night back in 92/93.
