Why don't you. You made the initial claim that England's gun laws have worked. So wouldn't the burden fall on you to show your work?
I did, Einstein. There have been zero since 1996.

And the vast majority of mass shootings occur with handguns, of which you own 4. Why would you own a weapon of such mass death?
I’m completely indifferent on them. Don’t need them really. And if someone breaks in to my house I’m not reaching for the pistol.
I’d give up the pistols if it meant kids would stop being shot. However, that’s not what would happen. Americans are just uncivilized people pretending otherwise. No laws will change that.

-19 Countries with the Most School Shootings (total incidents Jan 2009-May 2018):
United States — 288
Mexico — 8
South Africa — 6
Nigeria & Pakistan — 4
Afghanistan — 3
Brazil, Canada, France — 2
Azerbaijan, China, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Kenya, Russia, & Turkey — 1
Some of those countries have their own issues and I don't wan to emulate them in any way. But damn, that's an absolutely horrible statistic if that is accurate. This country is absolutely fricked.

Yeah you might be right. Again what’s killing the people in the first place is the tool being used. Unless the gangster disciple on the street corner is going to start throwing axes at his Latin King rival.
You think gang violence would just magically end if we made all guns disappear?

Again, FBI Crime Statistics say otherwise.

ChiGator has never heard of rocks or spears.

Yea, you've 100% proven yourself to not be a gunowner with this comment. Why the hell do you own handguns if you won't even use them for self defense?

This may be callous, but how many of these kids are actually forced to be in school?

No and I never said it would, dipshit.

It wouldn’t, and kids get shot at a much higher rate by handguns than “assault rifles”
So why do you want to ban AR’s again?

Thanks for at least reading the stats. Many here are like ostriches and bury their heads in the sand.

Then why have you been carrying on for a half dozen pages crying about what the UK did if you know it won't work? What the UK did will make the US more dangerous. This is not arguable. It will cut down on gun deaths, but increase every other violent crime category just like it did in every other country that banned handguns and firearms.

It's almost like the tool isn't the issue huh? I'm glad you're coming around.

I have not used the word “ban” once.
You people are something else.

quote:Nonsense. Both "assault rifle" and "assault weapon" have agreed-upon definitions, and we're not going to convince anyone with terminology.
I wonder if all AR 15s had a wooden stock and silver metal components if they would be at the top of the shite list. Hell, my wife asked me last night what exactly is an assault rifle. I told her that would be a great question for the gun control advocates to answer because they never have been able to come up with anything.
That said, my preferred term is "Yankee Management System." It is a semi-auto rifle with a detachable high-capacity CLIP (not a "standard capacity magazine"), a pistol grip, the ability to attach a SILENCER, and manageable recoil.
This type of device is intended most basically to deny human beings (living) access to places I don't want them to go, by laying down suppressive fire at short to medium range.
It is significantly better at this role than grandpappy's .30-06, and I am not going to mince words about that. His prey was the deer; my predator is, well... that thing from Nashville.

Speaking of stats, how many school shootings in England prior to 1996?

Many of the people here are dumb. And the sad thing is this board is the honors class vs the politics board that is still in hooked on phonics.
