And when the bad guys pull a knife instead? A club?

You said the UK solved a "problem". lets talk about the "problem",

The problem was a level of gun deaths that the UK found unacceptable. We may look at that death rate and laugh. I dunno, maybe we just place a lower value on life.

The problem is there is a sizable, and ever growing, percentage of Americans who believe this is possible.

And worse yet, there is a political party who knows there are millions of Americans dumb enough to believe something this absurd is possible so they’ve cynically made it one of the main pillars of their political agenda.

They had 3 shootings from 1967 to 1996. They also don't have a constitution that protects their citizens' rights to gun ownership.

to say that they solved a problem by banning handguns when they didn't have a problem to begin with is asinine.

My kids have the right to go to school without the threat of being killed. Wouldn’t you agree?

Yep. Do I also have the right to defend myself with the best tools available?

Oh they had a problem and that shooting allowed the government to address that problem.

But it wasn't the problem that TCO is talking about.

The problem was the UK had a bunch of soccer moms let their emotions do the driving.

Not anymore. But that's because I live in Idaho now.

The local hubub here a couple months ago were some kids siphoning gas. Scary times. Thankfully the police were able to detain the rapscallions.

Or have constitutional protections against government overreaction that you don't like.

I’m not sure why you are debating this.

There are bigger fish to fry.

The POTUS says White Supremacy and radical MAGA republicans are the biggest threat to our country.

there have been ZERO school shootings since the 1996 Dunblane Massacre

how many had there been over the 25 years prior to that incident?

19 Countries with the Most School Shootings (total incidents Jan 2009-May 2018):

United States — 288

how many of those were a kid bringing a handgun to school and shooting a classmate?

This is the problem with statistics found on the internet. They intentionally slanted or misleading depending on the conclusion the author is trying to prove.

LINK

Here's a wikipedia link to all the documented school shootings from 2000-present in the United States. If you read the accompanying narrative next to each incident, you'll see that incidences comparative to yesterday account for a small fraction of all those included in the broad category of "school shootings" and most were committed with handguns. From 2010 to the present, 224 school shootings resulted in 1 or few person injured. Yes I said 1 or fewer because when shots have been fired, they are still classified as school shootings. 30 school shootings resulted in no one being shot or killed. Many also included in those stats are school shootings with non-lethal forearms, like air rifles, BB guns, pellet guns, etc. They also include things like police officer deaths during traffic stops that happened to be on a college campus or gang violence via drivebys in parking lots on college campuses. Those resulting in multiple deaths with an "assault rifle" used at a school amount to a total of 6 incidences from 2010-present:

Rancho Tehama, CA - 2017 - 6 killed, 18 injured
Parkland, FL - 2018 - 17 killed, 17 injured
Sandy Hook, CT - 2014 - 27 killed, 2 injured
Nashville, TN - 2023 - 3 killed, 3 injured
Uvalde, TX - 2022 - 18 killed, 40 injured
St Louis, MO - 2022 - 7 killed, 10 injured

Others not included like Santa Fe High School were committed using handguns, moltov cocktails, pipe bombs, etc. Banning assault rifles isn't going to deter that.

I have no idea how other countries track data related to school shootings, but if any gun is fired in the direct proximity of a school, it's included in the tallies that are used by the media and gun control advocates.

That's not an answer and you are deflecting. I could also argue as previously stated before in this thread that "thoughts and prayers" are exactly what we need as the US has increasingly become a God-less and secular society.

Everything he says is literally off the Democrat gun talking point list.
