I've heard that around 200 people move here every day.
the young professionals scene is BY FAR the best in the entire southern US right now.

Sadly the infrastructure here isn't keeping up. We need light rail here bad.

Agreed. I live in Nashvile and can already tell that this place is on the decline. Growth is slowing and a lot of young people are leaving. I'd recommend Memphis too. Most people in this thread are basing their opinion on stereotypes rather than actual experience
I'm one of the few young people who left (chased a job and my wife wanted to raise our son around family where she's from in West TN - Jackson), and I regret the decision quite frequently.
Nashville is awesome and hands down better than Memphis.
OP, I would suggest possibly looking into the Nations neighborhood as it is booming right now and close to everything.

Construction has started to slow. Banks are getting hesitant to lend for large scale construction projects. Do some research - this isn't 2015 anymore

In Tennessee, the further east you go, the nicer it gets. That should answer any questions you have.

Scenery - yes.
Job market - no.

Because the Tampa area is the epitome of excellence, class and culture?

FTR I grew up in Memphis (granted that was a long time ago) and I've been back plenty of times to visit relatives so I have a pretty idea of what I'm talking about.
You really trying to compare Memphis to Tampa?

Several banks have recently said they were scaling back on some large scale construction investments, but this is a good thing that will make developments more sustainable and steady over the long run.

What he said, Nashville by so far you can't even see Memphis from its perch way down below with the Hubble telescope

Yep this, Memphis is the mid south version of New Orleans, a total shithole with small cadre of inbred entitled people in mid town (they're "uptown") who are so stupid they actually pay more to live there than out in the burbs and like in Nola they have run the city into the ground. Basically it's New Orleans without the food.

Any town built off Blues music and BBQ (Memphis) is more than alright with me.
Memphis gets too bad of a rap on here. Midtown Memphis is a cool area and you've got some enticing attractions for work and play (St. Jude, FedEx, International Paper, Memphis Grizzlies, Memphis Redbirds, Memphis in May, Overton Park, Orpheum, Mud Island and such...)
Nashville is definitely a more thriving, cosmopolitan town compared to Memphis. Personally, Nashville is a better fit for me, but I'm not one of the locals who likes to shite on Memphis.

i have to drive through it every time i go to monroe from nashville and outside of some fond memories of bike races in germantown, my memphis 'experience' is limited to being run off the road by cadillacs and oldsmobiles with 20" rims.
i cant fricking wait to get through that city. my nerves are shot and its all i can do to pull over at the first decent exit in northern ms and have some popeyes
