It doesn't have to be this way, brother. Catholicism would be a familiar switch. Come home.
I’ve actually, for the first time in my life, seen multiple families who I know were non-denominational and Baptist that are in the process of converting to Catholicism.
I know it’s time consuming for people to actually take this step but it’s nice to see.

Of course. As long as they wear their mandatory paper bag over their head with eye cut-outs. X-D
Seriously brutha -- understanding of this issue requires context. It doesn't mean women should literal sit down and shut-up.
This scriptural instruction is about women NOT leading, superseding or exercising authority over men as a church official or pastor in an assembly with respect to teaching the Word of God. A good part of this reason mentioned was in creating order and avoiding confusion in the church.
It didn't and doesn't mean women are prohibited from teaching in certain circumstances and settings. (My aunt taught me how to understand the Gospel). So yes -- women are allowed singing like angels in a choir
Also see 1 Timothy 2:11-12; Paul got his divine-inspired instruction from Jesus. As we were reminded up thread by a poster, "The Bible says why it says and we can either accept it or not."

And what does that word of God say about females' role in the church?

Wait, Paul was a misogynist?!? Who knew?
Same guy who hated queers.
Find something Jesus said negative about women, or queers.

Sorry but that's not correct. In context, 1 Corinthians 14 addresses orderly conduct in worship, not church office or pastoral authority, and it never mentions women leading, holding office, or teaching Scripture. So to say that's what it's about is disingenuous.

Context. You're missing it.
Have you also read 1 Timothy 2:11-12?

1 Timothy 2:11–12 addresses a specific problems teaching and authority that arose in the church in Ephesus. It was not a universal ban on women speaking or ministering.
In that verse, Paul used the verb "authentein" which means to usurp authority. Paul was saying women shouldn't usurp authority, not that they should not have any authority.

Do you believe Paul's teachings were the divine inspired word of God?

Believe what you want but the instruction is clear and concise. Most Christian scholars agree on the context of Timothy's and Corinthians' text.
Women can speak. Can minister. Just not as the leaders of the church or flock; moreoever they must understand their role as subservient to the male leaders as to avoid confusion within the church.

Again, we must consider context, right?
Yes -- women "shouldn't usurp authority" (another way to put it).
As to "authority" -- they can and may have it -- but not to pre-empt or replace male church or flock authority. So we're back to square one.

You can’t even quote scripture correctly nor do you understand the context of the scriptures you are quoting. They have absolutely nothing to do with female leaders in the Church
Posted on 12/26/25 at 4:28 pm to Lonnie Utah
You should just stop talking about subjects you clearly know nothing about. I love it when people pick and choose scriptures that fit their agenda while ignoring the context of rhetoric whole book and Bible itself much like the people who like the New Testament God but disregard the Old Testament one as if they aren’t the same or disregard Paul’s teachings as if they are uninspired lol it’s comical. Leadership in the Church has always been delegated to men, that isn’t Biblical debatable. You can disagree with it but that is simply your opinion, nothing more. There are no examples of female leadership in the New Testament Church nor are there examples under the Law of Moses. Attempting to apply modern cultural standards to Biblical doctrine is a slippery slope

Nobody's answered this yet.
Of course not. Because it would force them to perform mental gymnastics to justify their use of the Bible to enact personal desires.
That’s not it at all. As a matter of fact, it was explained nicely in the post right before yours:
quote:
This silence relates to authoritative teaching or disruptive speech. It does not apply to functions of laity in the Mass such as readings and singing.

No, Paul was an a-hole Pharisee who went around persecuting Christians, until he was blinded by the light and began lecturing them about how to perform Christianity correctly, according to his views. His words weren’t important enough to put in red.
Who is your neighbor? It’s the female Episcopalian minister, a Palestinian, a gay guy, a trans woman. Love them as you love yourself.

Bro, you’re just a modern day Pharisee with all your rules. J-Money broke it down into just two, and you’re not following the second.
