I'm trying to judge you by these two facts:

1. You don't currently own a suit
2. You are willing the go up to $1000 for a suit on short notice.

So many possibilities

I'm going suit shopping today. Looks like Macy's is having some good deals. Hows the quality of the brands they sell like Ralph Lauren, Kenneth Cole, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors?

If you are over 18, you should have at least one suit, and one sports jacket with some nice slacks.

Next time you need a suit keep January 1st open. Not sure where you leave, but if there is a Dillards near you, you can get a great deal on a nice suit (Hickey Freeman, Hart Schaffner & Marx and couple of other brands there. Be prepared for the place to be a zoo though.

Yep.

And maybe sooner if you pay a rush fee. I had one done in 3 days for my sister's wedding when I found out that I was too fat for my old suit the week of her wedding

Agree unless OP has a Suit Supply or similar nearby. I was out of town visiting a sick relative when they unexpectedly died, and I had to get a suit tailored on short notice (like 48 hours).

Went to Dillards, bought an HSM gold trumpeter, and then went to alterations places until I found one that would do a 24 hour turn around. Not ideal, but it can be done. Probably cost me 500-600 bucks.

Brooks Brothers. They'll tailor it for free, and will probably have enough slacks and jackets in store to find you something that fits well enough that you wont need it tailored right away.

By "nice occasions" do you mean hitting up Club 1913 on Friday night?

I need an affordable khaki/light tan suit that fits me well. I'd be fine with twill.

I can't decide where I'm going to go.

You've never owned a suit before yet your price range is $300-$1000? Dont try to get cute. Just go to Jos A Bank and call it a day.

hate to be that guy but:

1. How long have you known about this wedding?

2. When did you decide that you would wear a suit to this wedding?

3. Why is this the first wedding you deem necessary to wear a suit?

4. How old are you, to have made it this far in life without ever needing to wear a suit for anything (graduation, job interview, funeral, wedding, etc.)

5. What size suit do you wear? Or do you not know this? I am certain someone in your phone's contact list or on the OT wears pretty close to the same size as you. Why not borrow or "rent" a suit from a friend for the few hours you will need it.

6. Try craigslist or ebay and search for your suit size and distance nearest to your zipcode. Anything within 200 miles should easily be able to get to you in time or you could pickup locally.

7. But you have to know your jacket size at least
