If this is your goal, then Seiko is probably the best option for well made entry level watches because they have a style for anything you're looking for. I have a few Swiss made watches (cheaper ones), and I also have the watch below which is actually on my wrist today. Someone else shared a Seiko mod website which is also an option if you're wanting a look-alike watch.
ETA: Personally, I like Seiko as they are and would probably steer clear of the mods, but that's why we have preferences.

You just likely won’t be able to buy it from Rolex authorized dealer. Would take them forever to allocate you one if you got on the wait list

Buy a Seiko if you want a Seiko. Don't buy a Seiko mod.

First, that isn't a mod it is a entire non-Seiko watch with a Seiko (TMI) NH34 movement. It is also overpriced at almost $600 with an under $50 movement. There is nothing wrong with the movement it is solid though not very price but for the price it is great.
Honestly, I like the approach of buying an inexpensive watch if you don't even know if you will wear one consistently. Rolex isn't the easiest product to buy, especially if you want a GMT Master II for example. Demand still outruns supply and without a spend history at the dealer you will likely be put on a faux wait list and live in purgatory. You could buy the 126710GRNR "Dark Knight" that the watch you showed is based on in the gray marlet but expect to pay $8k over retail for an unworn piece.
If you like the Dark Night I can track down a link to a solid cheap alternative to try out.

That would be awesome. I have a friend that has bought Rolexes in Vegas. I think he’s bought 3-4 in the past couple years. He said they take care of him.

I got my (no pics) a 36 Green fluted jubilee Date Just. It’s looks amazing. The process took just over a year. No prior spend. I’ve been on lists at ADs where I have spend history for much longer.
My friend got a batgirl in less than a month despite no purchase history. It’s a very subjective process of how and why people get selected.
I tell people just getting into the Rolex game to keep in touch with the AD but not be a bother. Be fairly specific in what you asking for but compromise if something different is offered; you want a Bruce Wayne but don’t turn a no date Sub. You won’t lose significant money with any stainless sport model.

I like Breitling designs. $6K or so depending on the model. I won’t buy a watch as an investment. I buy it because I like it.

While a Rolex is very pricy, it's one of very few watches that can appreciate over time.

Check bezel.com
They authenticate all watches in house. I grabbed a “used” blackbay for $2,600 that still had tags on it. Beautiful watch - black dial with a blue bezel. Similar quality to rolex but you can decide if you like wearing one before spending rolex money.

The Rolex service costs have gotten crazy expensive. You’re looking at $1,000 or more for a standard service and cleaning for most models.
