It may alleviate some Highland exit traffic but Highland coming from Pecue will probably see more traffic. So kind of a moot point.

Anything to avoid Siegen Lane and ease some of that traffic.

And that interchange looks like a disaster in the making.

Why? It seems to work pretty well at MSY. As a matter of fact, I’ve never even realized I was driving through one down there. Just follow the lanes.

Do you feel like it helped out at all for highland exit relief?

Much of Highland Road traffic is Prairieville residents. They travel down Hwy 42, right on Airline, then either turn on Old Perkins or Highland to get to the interstate.

I don't see how a Pecue exit is going to help with that source of traffic.

What needs to happen is an interstate interchange between Hwy 73 and Highland Road.

Prairieville to Hwy 73 interchange requires driving the wrong way south for 10 minutes.

Once you drive on a diverging diamond a few times, it begins to make sense and you see the advantages to having this design.

The first few times driving it there’s an alarm going off in your head that your doing it wrong.

The interstate entrances and exits are not open yet, so it will not affect Highland. The diamond pattern is odd when you realize you're on the wrong side of the road, but there's no issue with understanding how to follow the road. If anyone cannot figure it out, they don't need to be driving.

Definitely needed but not sure where they’d put or if that would even be possible with Spanish Lake. The only option appears to be at Bluff Rd but it seems like that’s too close to the 73 exit.

We're talking about Louisiana drivers who can't even figure out how to drive in a roundabout. How to you expect them to figure out a diverging diamond?

Spanish Lake is on the other side of I-10.
There is nearly nothing between the interstate and the Jefferson/Airline intersection.
They could even run a road from Henry Road/Airline out to the interstate.

That whole area became a lot more traveled and occupied and development followed after Performance Contractors located there.

I don't think that is a coincidence.

They have a number of these interchanges in the Atlanta area. One close to the Braves Stadium, another close to ATL Airport. No problems, moves the traffic well.

Hoping it relieves some of the congestion that the Highland exit gets in the afternoons

Perkins needs to be widened from Siegen to Highland. That will be a long term cluster F when it happens.

It won't. Compare the amount of people turning right on Highland to the amount turning left to go home to Prairieville.
