The problem with "gaslighting" isn't so much that it is overused (it is). The bigger problem, IMO, is that it is constantly misused.

Constantly saying the word "right" after the speaker finishes their talking point. I've heard it non stop the last few years & it drives me crazy. I understand what's trying to be done subliminally to drive a point home or have the listener agree with them subconsciously, but I hate it. In particular when it's used in situations where you have no idea if what the person is saying is right.

I think this trend started in the early 2000's or thereabout: Beginning a sentence with the word, "So..."

Another irritant to my ears is hearing someone make a statement with a rising inflection at the end as though it's either a question or there is more to follow. Canadians and northerners are notorious for this trait.

Not just a word, I’ve noticed people repeating the same word twice. At first I was just thinking it was a specific person but now I hear it about everywhere. Example, ask someone how they are doing they say good,good. The Shawn Ryan podcast. He is bad about it.
