What’s downtown BR got going on now? I still think of it as circa 2010.

Pretty disappointed his face is still put together in the mug shot.
Good thing I'm not a cop. Id have wrecked him on the way to booking.
I figured that was the norm for cop killers.

The affidavit, prepared by Baton Rouge Police, noted Kato had previously threatened to ambush officers in a fashion similar to the 2016 killings of three officers near a set of businesses on Airline Highway. In 2017, police said, Kato had said he would "Gavin Long" officers if she summoned police to their home.
quote:
Police said one of the officers died in the original ambush, and that amid a later standoff with other law officers Kato returned to his backyard and fired again.
quote:
"Evidence on scene indicated that the suspect stood over the deceased officer and shot him multiple times with an assault style rifle," the affidavit said. "Several of the wounds appeared to be close contact."
Oh my, this guy has no soul

Very surprised the other shooting last night has not made it in here yet. Another horrible incident for the city of baton rouge

I’m wondering how many times this guy has been arrested and what his wrap sheet looks like.

You can't hit him in the face before the mug shot.
I bet his ribs look like shattered glass though.

WBrZ reported the the former officer was shot and killed by a would be robber. The former officer at least hit his target and said target lived after his visit to the hospital.

Ryan Hord, 41, was killed while attempting to fight off a suspected burglar on Richland Avenue late Sunday night.

Officials said Hord exchanged gunfire with a 29-year-old male suspect, who was wounded during the incident.
Hord, who started working for BRPD back in August of 2009, died on the scene. The suspect was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The Advocate will gladly tell us how many prior DWIs but sadly and hypocritically his prior offenses will go unreported. Just like that piece of shite sterling

It bothered me a lot when I saw that as a part of the search on Google news for additional info on the afternoon shootings.
It's Chicago-ish that it's just sort of a not-very-newsworthy because there isn't the photo coverage.
Good dude got murdered and doesn't get his own coverage. Definitely Chicago-ish.

Looked like he had a great life. I recall seeing him when he was on the force. He was eating at a table with other officers at that lil place that went out of business on corner of Perkins and Staring (across street from Albertsons).
Life is short.

Officers went to the house to conduct a "knock and talk" with Kato, police wrote in the affidavit. Two officers went around the back of the house "to make sure Kato did not flee."
"As they approached the backyard Kato opened fire with an assault style rifle striking both officers," police said, killing one officer in the ambush. "Evidence on scene indicated that the suspect stood over the deceased officer and shot him multiple times with an assault style rifle. Several of the wounds appeared to be close contact."
so... could it be fair to believe the 2 might have been members of the homicide squad furthering their investigation into the morning murder?
quote:
Police filed a second arrest report for Kato detailing his alleged actions during the earlier domestic violence homicide that occurred on North Pamela Drive, a residential street off North Sherwood Forest Drive and about 5½ miles from where the officers were shot.
Kato's longtime girlfriend told police they had recently been arguing, so she went to her mother's house on North Pamela Drive. Kato showed up at the house Sunday morning and they two started arguing again, police said.
She then walked in the house away from him, and Kato kicked down the door and struck her in the head with a pistol, according to the affidavit. Kato went back outside, retrieved a rifle and started shooting into the house, she told police. The girlfriend was hiding inside the bathroom but could hear Kato "in the house shooting and yelling 'where she at?'"
She told police she heard him leave and came out of the bathroom, at which point she saw that the victim had been shot. Police identified the victim as Curtis Richardson, 58, but didn't indicate his relationship to the girlfriend or to Kato.
seriously... between the details of both incidents... this is the person who deserves a no questions asked visit with ole sparky

No. They were day shift Uniform Patrol. The officer that was killed was the shift Sergeant.
