Whole lot of tin foil head gear in here.

You may want to also put it in a Lifeproof case in the event you fly over water.

flightradar24
Flightradar24 has the flight path and final radar position when Malaysian Air MH370 disappeared. Any slight deviation left or right, before a catastrophic event, would create an enormous search area.

Wonder if the repairs failed them?
I've seen that mentioned on FT. Looks like it was repaired in 2012.
That would suck for it to fail this far from that date. You'd think the repaired portion would get extra scrutiny for possibly the life of the aircraft to avoid that possibility.

The transponder has two independent battery backups. It is waterproof and fire proof.
You are referring to the Flight data recorder (black boxes). The transponder is just a radio transceiver that when will respond to requests from ATC radar by transmitting the planes ID and altitude. All of this is a moot point because the plane was flying an ocean track out of range of radar. Typical ATC radar has an average range of 200 miles.
The plane has a ELT (emergency locator transmitter) that will activate from the force of a crash and transmit a radio beacon. Except for the VLF transmissions used to communicate with submarines, radio waves will not work underwater.
The flight data recorders are fire proof, water proof and will withstand the G forces of a crash. They have acoustic (sound) pingers that will activate when submerged. Unfortunately it requires a ship equipped with passive sonar to receive and locate the pingers.

Nah, I don't see much of the tin foil shite. Mostly alot of people who seem to be kind of ignorant on how big of a search area something like this is.
They also seem to think that these planes are always on real time tracking down to the exact location for the whole flight.

If we take 120 miles in all four directions, that gives us a roughly 57,600 square mile search area (240x240 miles). Roughly an area the size of Iowa. Easily searchable within three days.
i can't believe they haven't found them yet

This thread is actually surprisingly tinfoil-free. Tinfoil is like "they were abducted by UFOs!" Or "inter-dimensional porthole", or "the government did it". Instead of that noise, people on this thread seem to really be focusing on helping each other to get the facts straight and positing plausible explanations.

There are reports of a third passenger traveling on a forged Chinese passport, listed on the manifest as Zhao Qiwei. Evidently, the holder of the genuine passport has never traveled abroad, and is still at home on the mainland.

Five other passengers had their bags pulled from the flight when they did not appear for boarding.
So, 5 people showed up at the airport and checked their luggage, then left the airport?

Or their bags made the flight they were connecting from but the passengers didn't.

According to Thai police officials, an Iranian man by the name of Kazem Ali purchased the tickets for two friends who he said wanted to return home to Europe. While Ali made the initial booking by telephone, either Ali or someone acting on his behalf paid for the tickets in cash, according to police.

What's the non tin foil head ger explanation on what happened here?

Someone needs to get Rust Cohle and Marty Hart on this bitch. This sounds like the plane got hijacked by the Yellow King and was taken to Carcosa.

Working through a travel agency possibly. They reserve the trip and you pay?
