Well, I found the one I wish I hadn’t.

Yes, and also probably don’t do cocaine and pass people on the wrong side of the road, apparently.

Catsouras was traveling on the 241 Toll Road in Lake Forest at approximately 1:38 pm, when she clipped a Honda Civic that she was attempting to pass on the right at over 100 miles per hour (160 km/h).[2] The Porsche crossed the road's broad median, which lacks a physical barrier on that segment, and crashed into an unmanned concrete toll booth near the Alton Parkway interchange. The Porsche was destroyed, and Catsouras was killed on impact. Toxicological tests revealed traces of cocaine in Catsouras' body, but no alcohol.[1]

Nobody casually looking at that picture would have come to that conclusion, IMO.
The top half of the car's missing and there's a bloody hand with no discernable body. What the frick OTHER conclusion will anybody come to?

Well, when I googled the accident, I scrolled past that picture probably a dozen times, because it didn’t appear to show anything unusual - and we had been warned that it was so gruesome that the photos couldn’t be posted here. The “bloody hand” is the same color as the car’s trim, engine hoses, etc. It takes a reasonable amount of imagination to conclude that you’re looking at a guy who was missing his upper half, IMO.

Russell Phillips wreck
Wtf they cleaned up his body parts and restarted the race.
quote:
In video footage taken at the scene of the accident, the first rescuer is initially shown running to the car, then immediately turning away after seeing Phillips' body and realizing the hopelessness of any attempt at resuscitation. The track was littered with debris, necessitating a lengthy red flag period while track officials cleared the track.
The race resumed after a 40-minute red flag. Track president Humpy Wheeler elected not to cancel the event, citing Phillips' wreck as a "freak deal."
Wtf they cleaned up his body parts and restarted the race.

You think they were gonna pay a winner in a shortened race

No clue what that is but definitely the creepiest photo in the thread

Pretty crazy that NASCAR just cleaned all the body parts off the fence and the track and resumed the race at that point.

I think the jury is out on whether that was Tara or not. It is almost certainly not the missing boy they thought it was in the photo.
Scotland yard analyzed the photo and said it was Tara. Another agency said it wasn't. It does look a lot like her, and there is a scar on her leg that matches. Also, there is a book in the photo that her mother said was her favorite.

Mt. St. Helens.
I have been there and no picture does it justice. Largest landslide in recorded history. I remember driving out there and passed a little sign on the side of the road that said "Now entering blast zone" and I know I was still at least 25 miles or more away.

Just googled that. I guess I’m desensitized. Those are absolutely disgusting, but her body is so mangled you can hardly tell what is what.

Not a photo but there was an ominous prelude to the crash. This kid was on one of the BMW forums in the days preceding this crash. Other members of the forum tried to talk him out of what he was going to do. He insisted that everything would be fine and went ahead with his plan anyway. He and four of his friends lost their life in the crash. It took a couple of days but the other people on the forum realized that it was him driving the car that crashed. It really shook that forum to the core.

I visited it only 8 years after the eruption and it was still mind blowing to see the destruction and ash. You first start seeing thousands of branchless tree trunks leaning from the direction of the blast. Thousands of them were still floating in the lake nearby.

Without googling, what's the back story here? Is this a Louisiana story?
ETA: Never mind, saw the post above.

Same here, didn’t bother me that much. Interesting story with the photos though, they got leaked and the family won a large lawsuit over it.
