Ted is that your photo? I can’t imagine sitting somewhere and looking through a window and seeing that. Every time I see Bryant Denny on tv I always remember that day for you all in Tuscaloosa

Is it just me, or does Destroya look like a tranny?

That's one of the Calder Road victims, I think. Truck driver was picking up women then killing and dumping their bodies on Calder Road.
I live about 3 miles from there.

I've kayaked the 13 miles from the USS Kidd to L'aburge. As long as you aren't near any ships, its remarkably calm. Feels more like paddling in a pond than smaller rivers I've been in like the Amite. Very little current on the surface I guess.

I too did the Big River race. Was surprised at how calm the river was.

Nope:

That was Regina Kay Walters, taken by Robert Ben Rhoades, the Truck Stop Killer, just before he killed her. He cut her hair and made her put on that dress.

do you follow closer to the banks during that run?
because from above (bridges, levees), it sure as hell doesn’t look remarkably calm.
and is the river typically flowing fast enough that you’re mostly steering, or do you have to really push to make forward progress?

The race I did (and pretty sure he was referencing), everyone was out in the middle. There were swirls but nothing crazy. Lots of fun.
ETA: a guy on a SUP won the race.

I’ve done a couple of races in the MS river. BluzCruz, which is 23 miles, takes place from Madison Parish port down to Vicksburg. The Phatwater (43 miles) took place from Claiborne County port down to Natchez. The river is not as bad as most people make it out to be. Must be mindful of commercial traffic though.
And no, you don’t stay along the bank. The fastest water is generally closer towards the middle, away from the bank.

Lots of paddling. I don't have the best kayak, but I had to paddle constantly to make any progress. Before the race started I paddled upstream for a bit and felt no current at all, like I said it was like being in a pond.
I stayed maybe ~300 ft from the East bank for most of it, but did cross all the way to the West side at least once, and did quite a bit right down the middle. Only thing remarkable (besides the absence of current) was the BIG swirling eddies, some 50+ ft across. They looked spooky, but you'd float right over them without feeling a thing.

Hmm, I thought that was from one of the victims dumped at Calder Road. And I thought it was a trucker doing the dumping. I could have sworn that pic was one of the victims.

Not in person. The library had a big tv showing the weather. I watched that. They switched to the cam on the stadium and I saw that huge monster looking like it was heading right towards the stadium then to us.
At that point the power went out. I grabbed my wife and kids and we rode it out under a stairwell. The sound was unreal. Luckily the thing bypassed us but the city looked like a war zone

i don't think that's really been confirmed and it's much more likely the 2 kids are unidentified, which is crazy-scary
the boy in the picture i believe remains unidentified but the girl seems to be her/
there's some additional info in this medium article
there was also a second photo found as well:
The one on the left is believed to be a gag photo but the family believes the one on the left is her again.
