Daughter (no pics) who had almost perfect teeth anyway did Invisalign and it worked out well for her. Wife (no pics) had braces as a teen and is 50 now and has Invisalign and it is going well. Again they had almost perfect teeth before Invisalign so I don't know what you say if your kid is like ol' Bucktooth Bessie.

The Invisalign fricked my teeth and resulted in none of the back ones touching when biting down. My ortho felt so bad that he paid for the traditional braces out of his pocket for me and now it’s almost completely fixed. frick Invisalign.

I’ve had braces twice. Once in high school and once as an adult. I recommend a permanent retainer for after alignment.

I ended up paying $1800 for my daughter and received $1K back from insurance. Keep in mind this was 4-5yrs ago. I would expect to pay around $3k today before my insurance kicked in.

God dang. I just had two of my kids evaluated on Tuesday and my oldest is ready. The quote from our more "hometown" provider was over $6,300. There's a $300 discount for paying in full.

I have Invisalign. I wore them properly. Made a whole snaggle tooth (K-9) flush with the rest of the front of my grill in less than a year. I am talking about a snaggle tooth that would catch and hold up my lip when I smiled, lol. I love being able to take them off and floss, do a whole proper mouth care routine. They actually helped improve my routine, and I have even better overall oral hygiene now. Again, I used them properly and approached them with a disciplined and systemic approach. I can see the whole debate over getting a teen to do that though.

I know...I got an unbelievable deal at the time. The Dr. was in the top 1% of Invisalign sellers. Definitely take a look at Groupon and find out which ortho's are doing the most in your area. I believe you can google it. When my son is ready I expect to pay around $3k to $4k which I think is feasible if I shop it.

Me too except my bite was not corrected so I chewed through the glue on the permanent retainer

I did smile direct club for 1/3 of the price. I wore the trays when I was supposed to and it worked for me.

This is me except I had a Michael Strahan type gap between my front teeth.

I've been wearing them 20-22 hours per day and have 6 weeks left. Like SwampGar mentioned, I like being able to pop them out and floss/brush and my hygiene has improved over the last 1.5 yrs.

I had Invisalign. Perfect teeth. My permanent retainer broke twice and I didn’t go back. I can’t even tell I ever got braces.

That’s what happened to me. Finished round 2 of traditional braces last November and will get the last of my permanent retainers next week. Holy Hell the process was painful the second time around. Results were amazing though.

Invisalign is more affordable and better for teenagers because it allows them to better clean their teeth and prevent cavities.

While this is true while they're at home, braces only touch a small surface of your teeth. Invisalign wraps the entirety of your tooth. If a teenager (at school) isn't brushing AND flossing well after lunch each day, the Invisalign retainers are a cesspool of decay for teeth.

ETA: I've had braces and Invisalign. I'm a freak about oral hygiene, and even I had issues with feeling like the the trays were always sterile. Plus, it's a colossal pain to have to brush your teeth immediately after eating to ensure you're wearing them 22 hours per day. Going out to eat became a chore.

I guess it depends on the kid, but most middle school kids aren't running to the bathroom to brush and floss after snack time or lunch each day.
