OT small engine experts: Help — updated

So, I have an Echo SRM225 weed eater that has been having problems. Couple months ago, it wouldn’t run very well, so I just went ahead and ordered a new carburetor. Upon installation, I also cleaned the exhaust screen, changed all the tubing, fuel filter, air filter, and it ran perfectly fine. The first time.
Since then, it has been having issues staying revved up. When I keep the throttle depressed at a constant RPM, after a couple seconds the engine will start revving up a little faster and then die. I put it on choke, crank it, it starts/dies. Take it off choke, crank it, it starts, runs, accelerates, and dies.
I’ve tried turning the carb adjustment on the back, and so far that hasn’t helped.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
Update: after changing the spark plug, it still had issues. I read someone saying it may be getting air on the intake side, so I changed that gasket. Now, it’s not starting and the engine is flooding. I’m just going to order a new carb and see if that fixes it.

Does it have a new spark plug? That’s suspect #1

losing fuel pressure - check the fuel hoses for loose connections and/or cracks.

I do have a new spark plug. I’ll give that a shot. The one I have on there is in good shape, so I stuck with it. Let Me go give it a shot.

Check the spark arrestor as well and then see

Try this. On mine you just pull the metal piece out and clean it with a wire brush.

Those little 2 cycle engines are temperamental. Clearly the fuel air mix is off.
Sometimes the new replacement carb is not very good and gets easily fouled or clogged.
Could be the fuel lines are allowing air in, creating a problem with the fuel pressure. An air bubble might be trapped in a bad spot causing vapor lock.

Dog, I almost threw mine over the fence yesterday I was so mad trying to start it. Brand freaking new, like 4th time I run it

Same problem with my edger.
This stuff worked.

I used to repair small engines. Number one thing I did was take the spark plug out and hit it with a wire brush. If the carb was gummy, I took it off, soaked it in a carb cleaner dip, put on new gaskets, and reinstalled. Those two things fixed 95% of the issues.
It does sound like its getting too much air though. Just throw it away

It's running lean, gasket on the intake side is likely loose

Well, off the cuff, I just changed the spark plug and it seems to be running better than it was earlier. It started off a little weird upon first cranking, but after hitting the gas it started screaming consistently. I’ll play with it more tomorrow and see How that goes, But thank you for your help

There is a fuel line "clunk" in the tank. It is a weight/filter on a loose line (to pick up fuel no matter the angle). At any rate, make sure it is moving freely and that the weight/filter isn't fouled up. If that's not it I'll still give your $50 for it....
