Just for shits and giggles, I'm going to weedeat & edge before I mow next time.

Just to see what it's like.

Can't imagine doing it the other way, for two reasons.

First, it takes me forever to edge. I have a bunch of hardscape and fence/landscaping crap and I only use a weed eater to do both jobs...so I'm turning the weed eater upside down to edge. Works great and the result looks awesome but it's hard and takes some effort. All told I'll take 60-90 minutes doing that shite...so it's exhausting. If I waited to do that after mowing I'd be too tired and skip it so I need to do it first.

And like everyone else has said, cutting afterwards allows me to just mulch up all those trimmings that end up near the driveways and it the ruts between the lawn and the big river rocks we have as edging. Doing it like that all I have to do is sweep the driveways a bit and I'm done after mowing.

By weedeating first the known path of the lawnmower is taken care of. No more trying to get as close as possible to walls, flower beds etc.

I do this. I makes it easier to mow around my fence.

Roundup makes it even easier to mow around your fence.

why weed eat? Spray weed killer every two months. Much better, easier. Prettier with the contrast of green and brown too.

I'm not going to spray weed killer around my trees or concrete edges.

1) I do my least favorite tasks first (my order: edge, weed eat, mow, blow)

2) I prefer my mower to pick up/bag grass and weeds instead of being an a-hole and blowing grass and trimming into my neighbors yards and driveways)

Why do you mow before you weed eat?

Makes cleanup easier - a lot of the trimmings end up getting mulched.

Plus, there are some spots where taking a mower is problematic, especially if you have some low spots that are wet.

What is the reason?

Not sure, but the answer is... mow your grass, roundup everything that didn't get mowed... trade your weedeater in towards a new leather recliner.

Round Up is no longer worth the high price you pay for it. Used to be I could go around my fences with RU and the weeds would be dead until the next season. Now weeds reappear in just a few weeks.

If I'm bagging up clippings I weed eat first.
