Cool to have a pope who can moonlight as DJ Pizzaballa. At least he’d have a legitimate job with the moonlighting.

Was Ippolito Aldobrandini one of the 4? He made his nephew, Pietro Aldobrandini a Cardinal when he was 22y.o. He gifted him the old house, Villa Aldobrandini, in Frascati.

You can feel the presence of evil down in the bowels of the villa.

I can only assume young children had a bad time there, considering it once housed a pope and his nephew, the cardinal. Just a feeling of evil when walking through.

Why not let God choose the next pope instead of a chimney?

Becoming a cardinal sounds like an interesting career choice. Sounds like a life of luxury living in the middle of Italy in a nice villa with expenses paid for.

But is it worth giving up sex, or do they “really” give that up too?

Jesus founded The Church and instituted St. Peter as the first Pope and then left control of His Church in human hands

Every pope since has been a direct line from St.Peter..So in a roundabout way, all popes have been divinely inspired.

Based on what? I'm assuming there were stories or something?

I don't understand the Pope thing. He's just a man with no more connection to God than anyone else.

He is pretty young and conservative as I recall. Around age 60 I think? And with the huge influx of liberal and Jesuit influenced cardinals, I think this would be a surprising choice. Unless I am confused in my memory of this man.

I pray your memory is correct.

Based on history. Clergy molesting children is not a new, or 20th century thing.

I can see by all the downvote queers here that mentioning prior bad acts of the Catholic hierarchy is frowned on. I guess there are a lot of supporters posting here.

It's about time the church goes with a more traditional choice. We don't need another woke pope.
