You know what's weird?
Technology. I've had a total of 3 hamsters, 6 fish, 1 crawfish, and a dog prior to having a digital camera.
So I have no pictures of any of these animals spare the dog, but I never took those pictures until the end. Even in family photo albums we just have pics of the dog when I was really young. So I have old dog and young dog and old Pectus and young Pectus, but no in between. I can remember those years, but I can only picture the image of the dog when she was old because that's what I see in the pics and they slant my memories that direction.
I don't know. I don't have any pets now, and don't have digital pics of my old ones. That doesn't mean they didn't exist, but technically they could have never existed. Technology is weird.
