There is no world in which you have any kind of authority over anyone. This post is complete bullshite.
Agree. I thought BT was always in the gym working out, jogging in the neighborhood or flying around the country taking care of the worlds problems.

I agree with you. Unless you know the people well and/or have a good reason to be off camera, on-screen should be the default.

Camera or no camera, I look forward to the days when Teams meetings will no longer be a part of my life. All the dribble, posturing, arse kissing and verbal vomit…...

I have zero problems with people having their cameras off. Some people do like to see and hear themselves however. I don't want to get out my PJs. Sorry

Ours is nothing but us trying to call each other gay like it should be.

No but in his defense this consultant doesn’t exist and the story is completely fake

I swear BT wakes up and thinks, "what's a new, asinine thing to bitch about that makes me seem important?"
BabyTac - you are NOT that important. If you were, you wouldn't be posting on here nearly as much as you do.
And even if you could, you would be an epically shitty person to fire someone right before Christmas over something as trivial as not having their camera on.

Pre covid everyone did conference calls on phones without cameras. This is a new thing.
You don't get to make the rules.

If you’re interacting on a call or meeting with people outside the company, have your camera on. Nothing is more disrespectful and unprofessional than everyone having their camera on and yours is off esp if speaking or being asked a question. Had a consultant of all people that routinely did this, and finally cut them loose this morning. Work was mediocre at best, but this sent me over the edge. When their company calls and asks for feedback that’s exactly what I’m going to tell them.
Rant over.
frick U

I'm fine with the Indians keeping their cameras off. I don't want to see the squalor they are calling from.

I’ve let my teams know that it’s inexcusable to not have your camera on when it’s an interactive meeting. Conferences, training, etc…fine to leave it off.
why?
do you understand how fricking stupid that sounds? I only have a camera on the laptop but why do you need to see someones face to have a meeting?
if its an important meeting, you will be sharing a screen...why do you need people on camera?
I hate when people have the camera on. Now if you are doing a presentation with the board...thats different. I used to have them and yea...thats the expectation
but you are not on any board. You are middle management at best, more than likely low level management.

There is absolutely no way you’re really an executive

We’re generally a camera on firm, but our meetings aren’t some one presenting and people listening. They’re going back and forth about deliverables and what needs to be done. I find it helps people not talk over each other.
Office of firm wide meeting are obviously different and cameras off because it’s one person talking.
For clients, I always join at first with camera off and just do whatever they do

If you are paying me camera on - if my company is paying you camera off - laptop is at a weird angle no one wants to see my bald head side

Eat my arse, It’s a phone call. Those existed prior to Covid.
