And you're both wrong. One of John Lennon's closest friends said that his views got a lot more conservative while he was out of the limelight(raising his son, no less) and was a big fan of Reagan.

I was going to agree with you on Lennon being a POS, but the quoted sentence is just too stupid it makes me not want to be seen agreeing with you on anything now.

Seems like kind of a stretch, but he did take 5 years off to raise Sean. Maybe he grew up a little bit?

I mean… if you enjoy country music and hip hop only, thats fair. If you like rock and roll, your opinion here is terrible.

While not a huge fan that is just not true at all. At or near top of any list, their popularity has lived on at a high degree a half century after they disbanded. Not overrated at all.

Another one of my favorites is how a few years ago McCartney cancelled a show in North Carolina because they didn’t rule in favor of trannies in the wrong bathrooms or some shite but he has no problems performing in countries like UAE where homosexuality is punished by death.

They’re just like typical Hollywood or politicians. Grandstanding bullshite with no self awareness.

The way he treated his son Julian is enough for me to despise the guy. Paul McCartney is 10x the songwriter and man.

pretty much as opposite the case as can be, it's easy to try to rewrite history and compare today's situation with that of generations ago, that's what our society does, the Beatles weren't some "boy band" as a lot on here say, they were ground breakers in just about every facet of their craft, they cut their teeth playing multiple sets per night, night after night in the UK and western Europe for years before they got much notice, they were among the first groups to actually write their own songs and play their own instruments, Lennon/McCartney as a team are one of the most impactful song writing duos in the history of songwriting, the majority of singers/songwriters since the Beatles hit the scene, if they're honest, will tell you that the Beatles in some fashion influenced their careers, the Beatles were pretty advanced in the studio too, given the state of technology at the time, not trying to sound like a Beatles groupie but these are the facts and they are undisputed

Stan Kenton raped his own daughter. People still listen to his music.

Kenton's sideman, Frank Rosolino, murder-suicided his family and is still highly respected in trombone circles.

Kenton had one severely f'd up band.

He definitely did. This was from his 1980 Playboy interview, shortly before he was killed, about the song "Getting Better":
quote:

In a 1980 interview in Playboy with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Lennon, when asked about the song, said that the song's lyrics came personally from his own experience abusing women in relationships in the past. He states: "It is a diary form of writing. All that 'I used to be cruel to my woman / I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved' was me. I used to be cruel to my woman, and physically – any woman. I was a hitter. I couldn't express myself and I hit. I fought men and I hit women. That is why I am always on about peace, you see. It is the most violent people who go for love and peace. Everything's the opposite. But I sincerely believe in love and peace. I am a violent man who has learned not to be violent and regrets his violence. I will have to be a lot older before I can face in public how I treated women as a youngster."

He definitely acknowledged his being a shitty person when he was younger, and why he was all about "peace and love" as he got older.

Now, was he still a mean person at times? I'm sure he was. But if we are judging his music based off of him as a person, that's not really fair. He (and the Beatles) made some seriously great music. If they are all shitty people, that doesn't really matter to me (although most would argue that they weren't, outside of Lennon).

Beatles were great, but John Lennon was a piece of shite. Woman beater and Commie scum was all he was. And also outside of Ringo, he was the least talented Beatle. Idc what anyone else says.
